The Affairs of the Other World Depend on the Corporate Slave
Ch 6.31 I ADORE the art. Also, it has a solid, old school plot, which I appreciate.
Never Understand
I'm weirdly obsessed with this. The color choices are interesting as are the characters; their flaws are messy and violent in a way that doesn't usually balance out to a positive, and the side couples we see are dysfunctional in a way that makes sense and also somehow seem to work out. A lot of stuff feels like it kind of tapers off, as opposed to being properly resolved and there are moments that get genuinely terrifying but while the plot fails, somehow the tone still works.
Who Can Define Popularity?
I'm pretty sure I started this one once before, though I only made it a few chapters in. I went a little farther this time and was utterly charmed by the characters and the kindness that they're written with, since I came in expecting something more like comedy.
Usagi no Mori
This one is heavy... but the characterization is so consistent that I can't help but love it. Like, the circumstances suck but how things play out feel almost painfully correct.
Surge Looking For You
This is kink adjacent so I mostly skipped over the sex scenes, but the characters were so earnest I did actually enjoy this one.
Literature Boy
This one is suuuuch a slow burn. We know something happened in the past and are just now starting to get to it. I can guess how the writing part will turn out but even though it's a bit slow, I'm enjoying that it's so well written.
How to Be the Chosen One
Ch 100. Okay so that comedy tag is kinda what throws everything about this off. The thing is, it could be a comedy but it, quite frankly, takes itself too seriously. Like the premise is actually really great, and the MC rushes into the idea of being the god of a country with so little thought it gives the illusion that it's going to be lighthearted, and all the guys make you think you might get a harem fic. Instead what you get is a deeply messed up MC with a bit of a god complex who takes advantage of his position by trying to have a ton of sex with people who don't really have the means or inclination to say why it's wrong (and spiral in interesting ways:) two characters naturally gravitate to each other, one PROMPTLY goes off the deep end crazy eyes unhinged, and another ends up alright despite essentially having a crisis of faith that sets him up as the only viable candidate for a happy ending if our MC ever gets his shit together. I think the hardest sell is probably the extent to which everyone is chaste- 3rd season introduces new characters and backstory that'll make for a ton of drama and nothing else. Honestly really good, but not in a way that I could love it.
I’m Not the Final Boss’ Lover
Ch 85 Potentially complete? Idk man I'm confused. One of the roughest translations to start but so far proving to be worth slogging through. MC transmigrates into a game and then regresses into the same story after having joined and been betrayed by the hero to instead join his competition. He actually goes out of his way to come for her, they're assumed to be in a relationship and in the meantime, she's just trying to prevent things from ending like they did in the game and the first play through. Nothing new, but solid.
