Chew and Swallow
LOVE the character development and redemption! It's quite a chilling and twisted story at times but also emotional and heartwarming. Taehwa and another dude are real bastards in the beginning and treats poor Minjae horribly, but the way they grow and try to make up for it is gold. Love redemption arcs. The storytelling is superb! Interview with a Murderer
Wow really different! I have never read anything like it before. It really mixes BL with thriller. The characters are very dynamic and mysterious. Their interactions are so suspenseful and you can't be sure what they actually think of each other. Clark is very mysterious and kinda shady and even though he's the main character you never really know where you have him. Alex is bubbly and cute so when you get reminded of how he killed his victims and how cold-blooded he can be its quite jarring and conflicting. The other characters are also interesting. I wouldn't say it's very romantic but it fits the story and the relationship development is still great and interesting. The story has a more serious and mysterious air. Killing Stalking
Caste Heaven
Terrible, bad guys were forgiven way too easily, no redemption at all, seme is a rapist and an abuser. Even by BL standards the seme is extremely toxic and cruel. And yet the uke falls in love with him. Hate this trope. Okay if the seme properly apologises, feels guilty and redeems themselves but this is just absolute garbage. Mostly the uke being raped, beaten, manipulated, humiliated, sexually pleasing other people. The seme gave bj only once in ch. 37 but also the reverse.
Zankoku Na Kami Ga Shihai Suru
Frighteningly realistic portrayal of rape and the trauma that follows. Very emotional and tragic. Quite old as well which can be seen in the art style. I kinda like it but it may take a while to get used to. Not sure I liked the insanity theme going on with the (supernatural) dreams and visions where they both share the same dream etc. but I guess it did add a layer to the ptsd. I also thought their conversations felt a bit unnatural sometimes, where they often bring up old myths, poetry, classical literature etc. as I don't think that's how young people talk (at least not me and my friends but maybe I'm just uncultured lol). But even so I have to admit it all does give the manga a special feel, as if the whole manga is some poetry lulling you into a seemingly sweet lullaby, even though it's an insane nightmare instead. Or something like that, can't really describe it lol. The characters were complicated and hard to understand at times, but I mean we all are, so I like it better than simplistic, boring, one-dimensional characters. Overall it's a one-of-a-kind, thought provoking manga that really affects you. Some mangas you have forgotten the next day, but this manga I read years ago and it still sticks with me.
Intense(Lee Kyung Ha)
It's deep, dark, emotional and intense. I really liked it although their relationship could have been developed a bit more (more interactions). What I didn't like was the ending. Firstly the thing with the gang felt quite unfinished and most of all the seme got some toxic traits towards the end. Why did he have sex with him from behind so roughly when it was clear the uke had trauma from it? He had no right to stop the uke from working when the the uke clearly expressed he suffered just waiting at home all day. It would have been fine if they had actually worked it out but it left a bad taste that the story just ended there. I hoped the whole story for the uke to be happy but it felt like got more sad towards the end. Kinda disappointed. I liked how kind the seme was before. note ro self: 26! both
