At the End of the Road

Complete | Haribo | 2016 released

Had a very promising start but a rushed incomplete ending. Was a while ago I read it but I liked the MC (uke) who instead of dying ended up in someone else's body. He's strong and tough. The person whose body he ends up in has had a very sad tragic life and now the MC has to deal with it. But he does it splendidly. It's amazing seeing how he turns around the whole bullying situation. I think I thought the seme was kinda shady and manipulative, but he did care deeply for the uke (almost to the point of obsession) and I liked their backstory. I still feel very sad for the person who hd his body originally though. He never got any kind of good ending to the hell he had to go through and no-one seemed to really care. .

The Origin Of Love

Complete | sansa | 2000 released

I LOVE this! The story is intriguing, the art is beautiful and the characters are wonderful! I love how they feel so 3-dimensional and realistic. The story also delves a bit deeper into some characters where several chapters are about their backstory. Haven't read a straight romance story in a while since I think the stories are often very vain and childish with overly bright colours that might be pretty but ends up only giving it a children fairytale vibe. But this FL is SO GOOD! She's strong, intelligent and reflective without feeling like a Mary Sue. The ML is also perfect. LOVE how stoic he can appear yet super cute when he blushes. Love the dynamic between the FL and ML. Nothing is rushed and it's beautiful to see their relationship develop. Oh and I also love that the FL actually has a bit darker skintone. Extremely rare. Especially in romance. Shouldn't be special but I feel that it's actually kinda progressive. Actually got this recommended after asking for dark skinned FLs. The story actually treats some gender equality aspects as well. Like the need for women to be pretty and for women to give up everything once they get married. I love that. It also felt natural with the story and not forced. I love how the main characters notice and reflect on these things, pretty uncommon. Only sad thing is that it's dropped. I think there are some more chapters in Korean but ultimately it was dropped there too apparently. Extremely sad. But I think it's worth reading anyway since it ends at a relatively satisfying place.

Love Barometer

Very heartwarming but still drama and good characters! A prime example of that a guy doesn't have to be a toxic asshole to be interesting or manly! And the girl isn't some weak crybaby either! The art is good and rather unique though it gets even better in her later works.

Our Companionship

Complete | ken,ant studio | 2019 released

Really good start but became such a disappointment. In the start the seme was a cute tsundere, looked scary but was actually shy and sweet. The relationship between the two MCs felt rather realistic and had good progression. Then suddenly at chapter 32/33 there was a (spoiler) sad excuse for a confession and attempted rape. I had really looked forward to the confession from the seme but it was really just toxic, aggressive and manipulative, like the seme was trying to guilt trip him into liking him and having sex with him.His personality took a 180 degrees turn, he was super aggressive and his face was scary a fuck. When the uke started crying I really thought the seme would back off. If he at that point had calmed down and apologised properly I probably would have forgiven him but instead he just continued to guilt trip the uke. The uke hadn't even done anything bad to feel guilty about! And yet the uke was shamed into apologising while the seme got off scot free. Made my stomach turn. The story went downhill from there. While the seme got less aggressive afterwards it never was the same again. Not only did he not apologise but it also felt like he became more arrogant and smug afterwards. A pity since I liked how cute, sweet and considerate he was in the beginning. Maybe I'm overreacting and other people got over it but it really just pissed me off. Especially since I had such big hopes for this story. One good thing was that it handled the gaming quite well.
