I Want to Be You, Just For A Day Webtoon

Ongoing | 삼 | 2019 released

The two female MCs have their own unique backstories and character development! Medea is a badass, strong, independent female lead who really cares for the people she loves, while Psyche was originally an innocent, sheltered girl who is now starting to learn how to live her life in her own way. Normally female relationships in manhwas focus more on the competition between them for a man's love. While initially I thought it would be like that for this manhwa as well, it took a 180 degree and the females' friendship is so heartwarming to see! Helio is also SUCH A CUTIE. Also the villain, Eros, is evil in a cunning way that makes me curious to know how the female MCs are gonna bring him down! The manhwa is very detailed and many details actually connect to the future, so I feel like I have to pay attention to every detail lol. The plot is very intricate. Every chapter leaves me with a cliffhanger. The art is super gorgeous and detailed too! she uses fine details in the art to illustrate subtle differences of medea and psyche's demeanours and actions. The little interactions between Medea and Helio are sufficient to make me squeal :)) Even the tension between Eros and Medea/Psyche is interesting to watch. The friendship between Medea and Psyche is so gripping and I love seeing girls supporting girls. All the family backstories are also well-developed.

Virtues of the Villainess

Ongoing | Bae Hee Jin,Koonac | 2020 released

Ginger Torte for iconic MC! She's honestly hilarious. She has grown on me a lot since I first saw her. Normally I would want to throw MCs like her out of the window, but the thing is... she's one of the exceptions. It is refreshing how she is so shameless about her perverted thoughts with Izana. Is she dumb? Yes, she can be dumb but that's what makes her unique in my opinion. Won't it be boring if all main female characters are strong all the time? Even though she may not have the most perfect personality, she is super funny and sincere in her feelings and that makes up for the weaknesses she has. Some of her actions may be viewed as superficial, but it's okay. Sometimes life is not all about complications and she's lovely the way as she is. Next, Izana is my bae. I'm a sucker for cheeky male leads and yeah... I just love how he teases Ginger. At the same time I sympathise with his past :< Hamel is honestly a surprise because i didn't expect I would like him so much! His true personality is so different from what i thought he may be like but it's a pleasant surprise! I was so onboard the GingerxIzana ship but GingerxHamel can come at me too. The antagonists are boring and somewhat one-sided but it's ok because I love the three main characters. The plot is rather typical in the sense that we have ginger here who reads a novel foretelling the main characters' future and she tries to get Izana to fall for her. HOWEVER, the plot twist is since she is dumb, her plans don't work out most of the time! It's funny to see the types of screwups she can cause and her monologues are ESPECIALLY interesting. The art is so beautiful too and I love Ginger's different and adorable expressions. I love seeing how Ginger breaks down the walls that Izana have with her brash honesty.

Suddenly Became a Princess One Day

Complete | Plutus,Spoon , 스푼 | 2018 released

Claude is such a protective father after we get over the heartless aspect of him. Athy is also SOO... MOE. I love seeing their father-daughter relationship grow. The male leads are unique in their own ways and it's hard to choose one for Athy ahhh. Athy and Lucas have that frenemy relationship and it's ADORABLE seeing them bickering! At the same time Lucas is always there to help Athy when she needs it. Ijekiel is so gentle and his relationship with Athy is like a relationship between a prince and a princess. Even though he's gentle, he also knows what he wants to do and will set his mind to it! At the end of the day, I think Lucas fits Athy the best though but Ijekiel is still adorable asfjdjd. Some of their meetings are too iconic. Jeanette's struggles to get accepted by her father and sister are also very genuine and understandable. The fluff of the story is lovely but the angst is also heartwrenching. Also the art is like super beautiful. Every scene is like a snapshot from a painting! The backgrounds are all so beautiful and even the clothes of the characters are well designed. Basically I feel that this manga is a great balance between family, friendship and romance.

Charlotte Has Five Disciples

Ongoing | yong yong,Dydyddl7 | 2019 released

The premise of this manhwa is really interesting to me. Normally, most reincarnation manhwas we see are about female MCs being reincarnated so that they can take revenge/become powerful but in this manhwa, the powerful Charlotte Eleanor's mana disappears, and she decides she will disregard her five disciples and try to find love instead XD (albeit unsuccessfully) Although Charlotte does not try to get caught up with her disciples' affairs, she inevitably ends up getting caught up with their affairs. I enjoy seeing Charlotte's encounters with every one of her disciples and getting to know more about their backstories. When will Charlotte ever realise Jeffrey's feelings for her though T_T Love seeing the disciples being protective or loyal to Charlotte! There are some mysteries still unresolved and I can't wait for the manhwa to address them.

First and foremost, the art is GORGEOUS and the character designs are really intricate. Honestly, I didn't really like Sienna at the start because she seemed really bratty and spoiled, but I suppose that is understandable considering her status. Her transformation in the story is a refreshing change and I hope to see more character development from her, and how it would affect her relationship with other characters. The bond that Latio and Sienna is precious! I hope life treats these two babies well because the angst is really making me sad. The Snake King is pretty mysterious and I wonder what role he is going to play in the story later. However, I really question why the characters made certain decisions because some of them are really stupid (Sienna's father especially...). I also wish that there was more detail on how Sienna worked hard to exact her revenge because that would really show her character growth. The revenge was discussed in a somewhat vague-ish manner in my opinion.

Seduce the Villain's Father

Yerenica and Euradian's interactions have certainly made my day. Yerenica's attempts to seduce Euradian are super hilarious and her innocent charms have really won me over :D It's also heartwarming seeing how Euradian warms up to Yerenica and how he teases her! Please just get together already. The black magic girl is just a stereotypical villainess and she can be really annoying... Thankfully, Euradian seems to have his suspicions about her so he and Yerenica will just need to find proof to oust her for her crimes.

I am one of those people who thought the manhwa started out with a really great theme and I was looking forward to see how the author would explore complex social issues relating to the idea of beauty. But by now, it seems that the author has totally forgotten about that notion. I really liked how Jugyeong would help others with her makeup skills and giving them confidence boosts before, but now the main focus of the story lies more on Jugyeong's love triangle and them making stupid decisions. That may have been fine if they have grown from their experiences, but some of their actions later contradict with what they say which makes me perplexed. Hopefully the author will find back the direction she was originally going for with this manhwa.

I've always had mixed feelings about this manhwa. At the start, I was extremely hooked to the manhwa. It warmed my heart to see how Tia developed and grew as a character, tried to overcome the power struggles, and how she opened her heart to the people around her. I just feel kinda iffy that she would end up falling in love with Ruve again in the end. I don't exactly dislike the 2nd TL Ruve since he is indeed different from his 1st TL self, and he has done a lot of things to help her, but I just don't really get the chemistry between them. In addition, the power struggle between Jieun and Tia have been dragging out for some time and it feels like the manhwa lost its original spark. However, I have to admit that the manhwa had illustrated the struggles and dilemmas that the various characters face very well. Ruve, Tia and Jieun are all very flawed characters who seem particularly real. I wish we got to know Allendis and Carsein more though, because it felt like they existed just to show love to Tia. Afterwards, Allendis was nowhere to be found and Carsein just popped in and out whenever Tia needed help, and I felt like it was a pity since I liked both of them. Allendis was a particularly interesting character who could've been further explored too.

Lady Baby

Ongoing | JU Hyeon, Pingmin | 2000 released

Lippe is actually such a precious character and I love seeing her using her wits to get out of sticky situations. Although she displays many moments of intelligence, she also displays instances of weaknesses and a strong desire to protect her loved ones. I honestly feel bad for her since she has to bear the burden of her past life's memories all alone. Luckily, it seems that our male lead Castillo may also have his past life's memories, which makes them a perfect fit together~ The only downside is that the side characters all seem relatively unmemorable to me, mainly because they're all fawning over Lippe with not much personality of their own. I hope we get to see some character development for the side characters in future.
