| 3 STARS | alr so this is another extremely nostalgic and classic title for me ofc after rereading this I definitely dont think it was as good as when I read it originally because it my brain got better at evaluating yaoi since then but this story is fo sho still all kinds of fucked up like incest, grooming, rape, imprisonment, pedophilia, violence, etc and it's happening in like 19th century japan so YOU KNOW every help resource is useless, speaking of which all stories that happen AFTER ancient eras but BEFORE modern eras are always so freakin psychological tbh anyway though even if the story is super psychological and stuff it's also rlly sad- like too sad so I don't like it that much but I can respect the intricacy and complexness of it but fr I rlly do hope that toma gets his happy ending and that norihiko fucking burns in hell

| 2.5 STARS | the main value this has to me is nostalgia and the memory I had of it always trying to remember this story that I read when i was younger but dropped at the time because it was too much for me back then unfortunately i was very disappointed and disillusioned by my memory after the first like 3 or 4 chapters and the captive arc ended it started the romance and forgiveness and backstory arc which was cliche cringe and boring also hate to say it but the art is mid and the anatomy of the bodies is ugly like they're so lanky and skinny and their faces arent pretty and im usually pretty lenient on art styles taking into consideration stylistic choices but in this case i just could not enjoy anything because of the boniness of their bodies mainly the uke's anyway not much else to say about it just happy i finally found this story again despite being disappointed i dont have to be plagued by memories of this anymore
