This is what I call a Magna Yaoi. Top of the line story line. It may be framed upon the typical yaoi yakuza trope; however, it explores themes of child sexual abuse and child trauma due to violence with a great sensitivity atypical of this genre. The protagonists' bond is realistically portrayed and they are so strong and relatable that they engage one's emotions almost immediately, making you identify and love them at the onset. The main antagonist in the story is able to elicit sympathy and empathy despite his wrongful actions. In conclusion, this is an emotionally engaging AND satisfying story that will make you laugh and cry at the same time and will stay with you days after having read it. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Scarlet Beriko is undoubtedly a superlative Mangaka.

Mature slice of life that realistically touches on the darker themes of teenage pregnancy, poverty and child sexual abuse and portrays the hope of love and redemption. I love Momo and Yata with all my heart because they embody the best of humanity, because even though we may face terrible things in life, even though we may not be perfect, humans possess the power to survive, to overcome, to love and remain spiritually beautiful. Harada does not disappoint with this wonderful love story!
