Ok I HATED this so much to start with!!!! The first two volumes had me hating all the characters as most were horrible people but somewhere in the 3rd volume it took a complete 180 and became the fluffiest thing i had ever read and it honestly put me in shock. the plot seemed scattered from chapter to chapter sometimes to the point that i believe they are out of order on the web site. Over all it pains me to say i loved this all but 2 volumes, i mean it starts with a scene where he is coersed into sex which is not good and for the longest time into the fluff i kept saying im glad you are happy but I cant get over the fact that this relationship started with force and it wasn't addressed... until the last chapter where the guy repents and I honestly felt better. So I can't say that it is a perfect manga but, anything that can make me forgive a guy that blackmailed another to have sex is nothing short of magic (salem level of witchery). Because of this turn in plot and the continuing cuteness I gave it 5 reluctant stars definitely worth a relook into.

really slow but cute

Ren'ai Houteishiki

Complete | kodaka kazuma | 2005 released

Not usually into characters that are basically babies but the characters have a certain charm that really shines and that all adds up to a great comedy with actual story and genuine emotions i was not expecting that. BRAVO to the girl for trying her DAMNEDEST to not cause confusion, she just really understood the mood and was a genuinely enjoyable side character rather than the other yaoi side girl characters. and the whole acceptance of gayness was a welcome change as well

Starts out rushed and then takes a few chapters to really figure out where it wants to head, after a while it moves on from the whole pup play fetish being a main point of the manga to being a manga just about any fetish the author could think of but hey glad anytime the yaoi community starts to be more open minded and tries this new stuff as opposed to treading the same stuff over and over again, over all I liked it. Not top 10 but enjoyable enough to give a reread in the future. PS we need more actual gay dudes in manga it moves the story on alot faster to the good fluff faster and while the questioning guys exist they are represented super heavily in yaoi idk I'll come back and update once the story continues/finishes. Oh also sooooo nice to see a non overly fem bottom while they do exist it's nice to see a spectrum of all kinds of characters because that is how real people are, it was nice that's all I gotta say haha.

Here U Are

Complete | DJun | 2000 released

Left off at chapter 134 and damn if this wasn't good, the art style from the big smiles to sad faces everything is well emoted and the story is about actual gay dudes who accept that they are gay and want to just live in a society that may not accept them but they are trudging on through anyway. The familial dynamics are multifaceted with actual portrayals of familial homophobia and the effects it has on people, its not a usual "I'm straight but gay for you" plot because the family and friendship dynamics make this a masterpiece of characters discovering their own sexuality and the sometimes flimsy nature of the concept itself, finally, through this piece of media I feel represented in this genre. It does not back down from relationship dynamics and I just really appreciate this slice of fluffy angst to be grounded in the struggles of gay men in some societies. It also addresses familial pressure to continue the family which is important in today's climate because it really isn't addressed in other media that sometimes people may not want to get married or have children and that is perfectly okay. Many of our generation are reluctant to have children and feel the stares of our parents or grandparents who at the family gatherings ask when you'll finally settle down and have a nice little nuclear family and "finally be happy and start life" and when you say you do not want children ever, an aunt will give a "knowing side eye to maybe your mother or uncle and say "oh that'll change *snicker*" the younger generation is becoming more and more despondent with the want to have children as we realize it's not necessary to have a fulfilled relationship but often feel pressured by familial or societal pressure to conform to that "perfect familial unit", I'm rambling but this comic brings up very real societal issues that other contemporary works do not all while being cute and fluffy romance. 9 out of 10 and will definitely read all over again and can't wait to see what is next for the creator
