Koi Ni Nare!
I really liked this story. The sensei x student trope has been done many times, but I found this story refreshing. It was coming from a sense of vulnerability and confusion from the uke’s side and the supportive yet flirty act from the seme. The uke is the student and the sensei did not do anything until he graduated. The uke consented which was great, there was no blackmail. It was just a blind date that left the uke and seme with lingering feelings for one another. It was great to see how the uke tried to forget the seme but the seme came out of nowhere in the blind date and stated “you can only have eyes for me, no other man can touch you”. I was ecstatic to see that the uke was confessed to and won’t do anything that he will regret from the dangerous blind dates.
End Game
As I write this, I am left with a few questions. The biggest one is “will Touru ever say, I love you” back. The author left the story as completed, but it hurts to see a realistic ending sometimes. I can understand Touru’s reason behind not saying those words back, but I am happy to see that inside he really does love Touru from the perspective of a lover not just a guardian. He loves him so much that he cannot say it in order to allow the person who is young, vulnerable, possibly confused, and all alone in the world to know that he loves him so much he is willing to let him go. Touru is willing to set free the one person who he has dedicated his entire life to. Touru did not kill the seme’s mother he was simply a passenger in the crash, but he feels just as responsible. He feels guilty for having developed feelings for the child he was supposed to raise and see off. Maybe one day Touru will say the words he hides in his mind and heart everyday. I wish I could see it happen, but even if he does not his silence is the strongest and loudest scream of “I Love You”. Touru does love him and Touru will forever love him despite of himself. He does not feel deserving of the love that the seme is showing him in terms of a lover. He doesn’t even value himself as a proper guardian, he is just doing his best regardless of the circumstances. Seeing the seme fight his feelings for years up until his last year of highschool was so intense. You could see how hard he tried to convince himself of loving Touru in a fatherly way. However, he could not sit back and watch anymore while the man he loves and yearns for is about to be left everyday on his own. I feel that in the moment while leaving on the bus he could feel how Touru would move on or meet someone new since he wouldn’t be around anymore. I don’t know if Touru would do it considering how he has the tendency to love one-sidedly so earnestly but I think Hirai would have won if the seme would have left Touru alone for all the 4 years. Touru would have wanted the seme to see that he is not lonely and that he will live his life so that it can push the seme to leave him. I don’t think Touru would have truly fallen in love, he would have settled for the seme’s benefit so he would not feel guilty. I know that the seme is sad that Touru won’t say “I love you”, but with enough persistence and perseverance in the future Touru will know that saying “I love you” is what the seme needs more than anything. I cried slightly about 3 times while reading this. They tears were slow and dripped silently, the tears came from how beautifully raw you could feel the emotions of each character while they try to battle internally the socially “right” vs “wrong” actions. You could feel how realistic the couple are in their relationship in the end once the seme confesses that he loves Touru. Touru and the seme will live together and happily. They were destined to meet one another and will will never be apart. I hope Touru lives a long life, enough so that the seme never has to live without him. Thinking of this made me so sad, but that was the point wasn’t it author-san. Beautifully done my friend.
Lost Virgin (Nagi Wataru)
I thought I would really hate reading this, but surprisingly I didn’t. Originally the uke seemed like a trash bag because he hates gay men and tried to sexually attack a man because he assumed he was closeted. It also seemed that the uke was a crazy stalker. It turns out that the uke is a closeted gay and a mega virgin in all ways because he has never allowed himself to experience a relationship due to his hatred of his sexuality. Thankfully, the uke meets Choka-san who is a cross dressing gay. He purposely meets the uke so he can tell him to stop stalking and to never attack a friend of his again. However, he finds out that the uke is really sentimental, physically weak, and super shy. He falls in love with the uke and the uke does too. At some point the uke finds out he is a playboy and never takes anyone seriously so he assumed the seme was playing with him too. It’s really cute how the seme tells him he loves him and that he wants to take all of his “first”. I like the idea of the uke being a virgin, it suits his situation well.
Kedamono Kareshi (aomoto Sari)
This one has multiple stories, the rest of them are sweet and slow. The main plot of each is that the seme falls for a straight uke and they do their best to win them over. The first story which I think is the main story has a super possessive and may I add Toxic seme. The seme forces the uke into the relationship, he rapes the uke the first time then decides they will date. The uke has always admired the seme because of their popularity and intelligence. The uke does fall for the seme, but the seme has super possessive and “you do as I say” traits.
The Knight's Unfulfilled Dreams
I read it, super fast read. Nothing special about the story except that I love the seme. He literally never stopped loving the uke. He never took on another lover, every move he made was so that the uke could just be by his side. However, the uke’s brother failed to inform the uke about it. The uke throught the emperor really did imprison his brother and took his brother’s fiancé. I like the possessiveness of the seme, but I do feel bad for how lonely he felt during those 3 years.
Itoshi no Kemukujara
This was such a good read, its honestly better than what I have read in a while. I love how the uke defended himself and didn’t let himself get raped or forced into sex. He did it when he through he was ready to do it. The seme is a prince but not a snobby asshole. The seme and the uke love each other regardless of their different appearances. It’s cute that Shinchiro gets to have a new family since he lost his grandmother and is alone in the world. Now he has his seme and they do it all the time. This was a great read! I love how they compared the uke’s hairless looks to their private areas.
