It's a story of fate and Destiny and how they both tried to move on but couldn't. Yes, they could have come clean to their partners earlier but guilt especially on the uke's side silenced him. Eventually, the uke just couldn't forget how strong his feelings still were for the seme and although he tried to move on from him, he could not and he broke off with his partner telling him everything.

Uke finds comfort in a frequent bar customer, first as a friend to confined in, about his unrequited love for his childhood friend who is straight, who is moving nearby (within walking distance) in Tokyo. Things slowly develop as the uke and the new friend/seme slowly learn more about each other, especially the uke who was unsure of even his sexuality. He left him a letter which Eiji discovered and hide from him. For a while, when Renji was abroad, Eiji and Haru have a relationship but he was always the side dish since Eiji had a fiancee. When Renji returns things gets cleared up, feelings mature and intensify and although Eiji comes clean about his actions, there's no room for him anymore. Renji ultimately becomes mates with Haru. Happy ending! (Except for the attempted rape on Haru by some rando alphas perpetrated by Eiji's fiancee out of jealousy) meh
