The Specific Heat Capacity of Love

Complete | Old Xian, Moss | 2012 released

SUMMARY [A girl goes to the seaside on her class field trip and accidentally meets a mysterious handsome boy, after talking, she hears a dramatic story about a bird and fish, finally the kind girl decides to help the bird fulfill its last wish.] I never expected a story this short to leaves such a big impact on me. I almost shed a tear reading this. This is truly beautiful - would definitely recommend for anyone who just needs a good, old cry.

Bastard (hwang Youngchan)

Complete | Carnby Kim,Youngchan Hwang | 2015 released

SUMMARY [There is a serial killer in my house!] I've been sitting for a few moments to take everything in. This manhwa is fantastic. The plot is incredible, and it has so many plot twists that made me sit anxiously in my seat. The colour palette is perfect for the plot, and it makes everything seem even more disturbing. Jin's father is truly sick, twisted and manipulative, and it clearly shows many times, and I never would have guessed this to be the ending. One of the best manhwas I've ever read, and I definitely recommend!

Uzumaki

Complete | Itou Junji | 1998 released

SUMMARY [Kurozu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but by a pattern: uzumaki, the spiral, the hypnotic secret shape of the world. It manifests itself in small ways: seashells, ferns, whirlpools in water, whirlwinds in air. And in large ways: the spiral marks on peoples bodies, the insane obsessions of Shuichi s father, the voice from the cochlea in your inner ear. As the madness spreads, the inhabitants of Kurôzu-cho are pulled ever deeper, as if into a whirlpool from which there is no return..] This manga is insane. Itou Junji's talent to take a simple thing or concept, and then turn it into something horrifying and downright disturbing is amazing. The art style is so much more detailed than I expected. Truly a unique reading experience!

Samenai Yume

Complete | step lab,Tatsumi Doroko | 2013 released

SUMMARY [Kaname lost his older brother Souta in an accident, too young to die at seventeen. They are so different from each other that the only thing common between them is a book written by Tsujiura Ryousuke. What happens when Kaname meet Tsujiura-san, the author both brothers respect and admire, after Souta’s funeral?] I've become lost for words. This was definitely something else, and not what I expected, at all. This is not for everyone, but be aware of incest amongst other disturbing elements.

Fruit of the Tongue

Complete | 머니 | 2019 released

SUMMARY [Noah, a kid that I met 6 years ago in an orphanage. His closed off appearance, made me feel like I was seeing my younger self so i have to admit that I wanted to care for him more... I didn't think that he would follow me this much. Lord, can I lead him to the right path?] It contains stunning art work, and there's something about Noah's eye bags. I can't put it into words, so take a look for yourself. This is not for everyone, so please read the warnings before continuing further. With that being said, I liked the religious aspect in the story. The final chapters were not excepted, so there's a little plot twist. None of it was excepted to be fair.

My Childhood Friend Was a God

Complete | Ruru (menten watagashi) | 2019 released

SUMMARY [This is a story of a special boy who becomes a God once he turns 18 and his ordinary childhood friend.] This one made me tear up. With a few pages, a beautiful massage was conveyed. Beautiful and sad. Definitely worth reading.

Efforts Never Betray

Complete | Akpa (악파) | 2000 released

SUMMARY [Jae-kyung, who grew up under a perfectionist father, must keep first place in the entire school.] This was actually so sad to read. Jaekyung constantly not thinking he's good enough, and living in fear everyday of his father is truly heartbreaking. This Manhwa is a great example of the consequences of parents who have too many expectations of their children. The ending really sits with me - it really shows how much damage Jaekyung's father has done along with his mother leaving him when he was a child. Amazing but heartbreaking all at once.

Blue Lust

Complete | Hinako (ひなこ) | 2015 released

SUMMARY [On a hot summer afernoon, Hayato meets the new transfer student name Souma, who has not been able to adapt to the new environment. Hayato always manages to be in Souma's sight, and thinks he will be able to take care of him. The familiar touch allows Souma to familiarize with the environment, until he's able to smile once more. All the while Hayato tries to fix things from his past.] This is a beautiful manga, and I love everything about it. Seriously, everything. The pacing is good, the characters are amazing, even with their flaws. I love that Hayato had to confront his past, and that he didn't want to run away from it anymore. Seeing his perspective on everything was really interesting, and I loved that the readers see his inner conflicts and feelings. I enjoyed how Souma and Hayato found each other again after their fall out + the little time skip at the end was everything to me. (Souma looks cute with glasses).

Signal 100

Complete | Miyatsuki arata,Kondou shigure | 2019 released

SUMMARY [A group of high school students were spending their peaceful days freely until they have been chosen as the participants of the game where everyone is being hypnotized until they commit suicide. No one is safe from a sudden death, so what will they do to avoid their fates?] I've been sitting, trying to collect my thoughts on this manga, but I'm speechless. I started reading this a couple of months ago, but I couldn't bring myself to finish it because of a lack of interest. I'm so happy I did, though. This was full of plot twists, and I had no idea what to expect, nor what would happen next. This manga will make you question everything, seriously, EVERYTHING! It plays mind games with you like no other piece of fiction I've ever read. This was such a thrilling reading experience, but keep in mind that non-consensual acts do take place in this manga. Proceed with overall caution.

Tomie

Complete | itou junji | 1987 released

SUMMARY [Every male who encounters Tomie becomes obsessed with her and eventually kills and dismembers her. But Tomie is not human, and is always reborn...] This was certainly interesting, especially seeing how Itou Junju interprets obsession. The art style is fantastic, but I do wish the ending had been a little more "well-rounded" or so to speak. The manga ends abruptly, but maybe that's just me. Tomie is a person who every woman envy, and a person every man will grow to fear. Overall, a very pleasant experience with many unexpected things and situations thrown into the story.
