Back to School
A story of obsession, manipulation and isolation. I was sitting in the edge of my seat while reading this whole thing. I was constantly trying to figure out what would happen next, and was surprised over and over. It really showcases how far some people will go for the people they love, even if it’s unrequited. It’s twisted, complicated and dark. It has a happy ending, and I really liked how things were handled. The ending seemed rushed, and I wanted so much more, but I’m still very happy.
Exotic Love
A story of toxicity, doubt and complicated relationships that explore the consequences of one's own actions as well as of the outcome of such. It depicts the realisations of feelings, longing and yearning very well, but also a very unhealthy relationship where both parties never know what to expect of the other. It felt quite slow to read and the ending of the main story seemed rushed to me.
Crash Into Me
This was an intense story about guilt, acceptance and forgiveness. It involves a character being haunted by their past, and thinking they deserve being treated unfair as well as being abused. I didn't expect it to be this dark, so proceed with caution. Fortunately, the story has a happy ending and the abuser is dealt with accordingly, but was still very hard to get through at certain times.
Vagabond
This is an attention-grabbing story with interesting plots and characters. The art style is, perhaps, one of the most beautiful ones I've seen. I'm very excited to see where the story is headed, and how each respective character grows.
Bluelock
This is such an interesting perspective to egoism, and how that plays into sports. I especially enjoy the strategic and analytical thinking that goes into soccer, and how that is done in an entertaining way. The entire Bluelock system is both brutal and educational for the characters. They get to know their true skill level, while also checking out their competition.
Roses and Champagne
I have many mixed feelings about this. The plot and the pacing started out perfectly, and the story has a sense of slow burn that I grew to like quickly. While the characters and the overall progression of the story was done well, the acts of sexual assault was not expected or appreciated---that unfortunately ruined the remainder of the story for me. To end this on a good note, I will say that Lee Won is the coolest character of them all.
Dear Benjamin 1.5
A story about mysteries, secrets and breaking and regaining trust. This story has so many interesting plotlines, and they all tie together so nicely. The readers have the chance to put the pieces together, and try to solve the various mysteries that are occurring in this story. I was left with my mouth open during multiple instances, especially in relation to Isaac and his past, but also about where the plot was headed in general. Would recommend.
False Memories (Lee Gpiee)
I really liked the plotline of the story, and it really emphasises "don't judge a book by its cover". The story has an element of suspense that I enjoyed, especially when the readers has no idea of knowing when or how Ha-Woon would get his memories back. I do think it ending was rushed, but also that the brother needed jail time.
Roommate 101
This is such a beautiful story about found family and friendship. Each character has their own struggles, and while Biru and Hyuk dislike each other at first, they grow to have a good and strong relationship. This story really emphasises "opposites attract". Even though this isn't BL by any means, I still think it applies. I will say that the plot was a little boring at times, but it was an overall nice experience to read.
