How He Gets Divorced
It's too early to tell if this manhwa will be disappointing like so many others. I think people are being too harsh on the story for what it is so far (5 chaps), when we're only just being given exposition and characters. I'll go ahead and write a little summary of our two main leads and potentially important supporting characters. Female Lead: Comes from an abusive household, mother died. Her stepfather is an evil asshole, and mysteriously her entire family is beginning to drop like flies in "accidents". She's forced to get married to the 2nd Prince of the ML, but this marriage is only on paper and she's. basically sent to live with her nanny in the countryside in one of the ML's properties. Over time, she loses financial support from him and is eventually kicked out of the house she has been living in (because it's being sold) and is forced to fend for herself. So far, the female lead has shown some independence in her personality such as taking the initiative to take care of her sick nanny by hunting for the two of them, as well as finding housing for them after they were kicked out. I hope as the story progresses we see more of her light hearted side because so far in the story, she's had the same serious expression on her face. Male Lead: He's the second prince of the empire, his older brother is the emperor. He also has mommy issues and a little bit of daddy issues. (Mother was emotionally unavailable and selfish, while the father was a cuckold) So far, he comes off as self focused and honestly a douche. He was also forced into the marriage with FL( BC politics), and in one of his self reflection panels he admits to himself that he took out his anger at the arrangement on the FL by sending her away out of his sight, and he acknowledged that was irrational behavior. Obviously, he hasn't apologized for it yet because it's too early in the story and they main leads haven't even exchanged words yet lol. The only reason ML even remembered FL's existence is because he's gained interest in another woman. When he expressed this interest to his older brother, his brother reminded him that he was married. I don't hate this ML yet, because it's too early to tell which way the author will go with him. It could easily be horrible like we've seen before so many times. One thing that I do like though is that he acknowledged that he was being unfair towards her to himself, which shows that he's at least self aware to an extent. Of course, we can only hope he actually apologizes to her in the future. I think the danger with a character like this though is the mental gymnastics an author will take to justify the ML's bad behaviors because P L O T. Idk why so many authors just refuse to write flawed characters who grows and become better. Anyways, only time will tell. Side characters: ML's brother the emperor: Seems like a chill dude. ML's "love" interest: she's literally in only a couple panels so far in the story, but the ML really pulled the "She's interesting so now I like her" card, which was really weird because their interaction was completely normal? There was literally nothing special about it, it was as generic as can be with her bumping into him. FL's step dad: obviously a villain, but probably not the final villain. Ngl, I glossed over a lot of the boring empire exposition war stuff because the world building in these stories are shallow af. From what I gleaned, I think the stepdad is working for the nation that they're fighting against? That's just speculation though. Anyways yeah, that's basically it for the first 5 chapters of this story. Let's hope this story goes well. (and let's also hope that statement doesn't age like milk)
