Men's Wear Store and "Her Royal Highness"
Nee, Onnanoko ni Shite Ageru
The art is super good but something's off with the plot, and I feel like that's because the author put much more effort in the sex scenes rather than in the developement of their relationship. From beginning to end it felt like the seme only liked the uke because of his fetish. He didn't like him before knowing about his crossdressing hobby and he says that he fell for him when he saw him at the bar. His confession literally stated "I like men. I like older men who crossdress. I like you", and the fact he never has sex with the uke without the dresses quite clearly proves that he's not as interested in the uke's normal self. The extra chapters was supposed to be cute but it was sooo sad to hear the seme complain about not being able to see the uke the day before, not because he wanted to spend time together, but because he couldn't see him while he was crossdressing, and he even says that for him being with the crossdressing uke is totally different from being with his normal version, and they're like "two different people". He also treats the uke like shit, always criticizing him and never once saying or doing something nice for him other than sex (and let's not forget the actual coercion and blackmailing he did at the beginning while giving zero fucks for the uke's feelings). Meanwhile the uke actually fell for him as a person and numerous times throughout the story shows how caring and sweet he is towards the seme. Fuck I swear in the extra chapter when the seme was talking about all the outfits the uke wore for him I was ready to forgive him everything because I thought he was gonna end it with something like "...but whatever he wears, it's him that I love" or something that would actually show how he's attracted to him as an individual and not just as an object onto which project his fantasies, but guess what? He actually wanted to say that of all the outfits, the maid dress was his favorite! I was like :|
Star-like Words
I want to read more stories with straightforward and proactive main characters like Subaru. He's pretty much the opposite of the uke's stereotype if you think about it, and that's probably why so many people dislike him. Ukes are usually weak and socially awkward, they have no self esteem or sense of self-worth so they accept and forgive everything that the seme does to them while never imposing themselves and their opinions, they pour their heart in the relationship and obviously never do anything to wrong the other. Subaru instead is confident and comfortable with himself, and even if he's a pretty loose guy, he believes someday he'll find true love. When the day comes that he finally falls in love he chases after it head-on, doing everything he can to win the cold seme's heart. It's adorable that he's so earnest and carefree at the same time, and you can really tell he cares about the seme a lot too, so why is everyone bashing him in the comments? Everyone loves a toxic seme who sleeps around cause it's sooo romantic when someone popular is willing to wholeheartedly commit to a relationship and completely change his lifestyle for someone else, right? So why is it that when it's the uke doing it then he's a slut who doesn't deserve the good guy he's chasing, even tho he clearly treasures him more than anything? People are such hypocrites sometimes...
