Very interesting. My only issues with this manga is that most of the female characters are either 1) killed off, or 2) basically useless, just girls that just cry and wait to be rescued (especially Akimoto, but that may be just because of her little screentime), and that in the earlier chapters, the plot gets a bit predictable. However, as the plot progresses, the girls get much more development than I had hoped, becoming action girls that are just as badass as the MC, instead of the damsels in distress they started off as. Furthermore, the mangaka's tendency to develop doomed characters throughout the story quickly destroys any fear of a predictable plot. The best thing is that I actually felt every death that wasn't meant to highlight some character's strength - the mangaka goes to painstaking lengths to make you symphazise with someone; to love them and cheer them on, before they die in a way that tears your heart from its chest, not like in some manga where characters were given so little realistic development that when they died, I was just apathetically amused.
Akashi himself goes through lots of realistic character development throughout the story as well, making mistakes along the way - proving that he's not a one-man army, and that he, with all his bravery and heroism, actually depends on his peers as much as they do to him. And, the mangaka converged the timelines perfectly, making it so that they doesn't exactly steal Akashi's spotlight, but shows it crystal clear that they are formidable character themselves, and not people to be trifled with as well.
All in all, I am extremely satisfied with the chapters so far. Each event has me at the edge of my seat, anxiously awaiting the next update - a must read for fans of survival games. Go, Akashi, Shun, and co.!
