The Second Coming of Gluttony

Ongoing | Ro yujin,Ahn jonghyeok | 2019 released

60. It’s okay, the harem isn’t bad but the fact all the women are blushing and yearning for him when he hasn’t done shit is uncomfortable. The art is nice but the switch feels odd—it’s like reading a different story. It’s an engaging read overall. But MC isn’t too interesting personality wise. I hate how MCs in this genre lose their personality and become “calm” when action starts. It makes it boring to read a toad get fawned over for following instructions.

Return of the Flowery Mountain Sect

Ongoing | Biga (비가) , LICO | 2019 released

73. It’s okay. Similar to typical reincarnation Murim manhwas but the art is good. I hate how the first female character showed up around 30 chapters and the first few characteristics we get is “she’s pretty, she could entice men” and “she’s dumb.” The only female character is immediately reduced to her looks and called unintelligent and then the author forces her to have meet ups with the MC even though he acknowledged that he is much older inside. It’s similar to The beginning of the End and other shounen reincarnation stories where the female characters are only strong in name but actually just romantic interests that need saving. This manhwa is staying at 2-3 stars. I hate the people that are like nO harem or annoying female cHaraCters. Like fuck off, that’s not the problem here. The problem is the sexism from the authors who make these female characters shallow. Not the actual characters.

21 -- MC is a double agent and it looks like his brother is on his side but the MC misunderstood his brother and his family because of his split personality. This can't be labeled comedy for the angst about to come. It even has an unhappy ending since after Cruel dies protecting MC, his personality becomes one and he kills the emperor, duke, and demon king as revenge. MC's family didn't abandon him--duke and demon king had a deal over some land and the bet included MC bc duke bet that MC(since he was weak) would die in battle and the demon king bet he wouldn't for shits and giggles. His brother dies protecting him and MC becomes aware of his trauma and everything. The ending is depressing because he makes a deal with karma or something to make sure when his brother reincarnates, he won't suffer. Instead in the MC's after life, he will be blind for all his life and miserable as karma for his actions. The only good thing is that Mc gets to repay his brother and gets to somewhat atone for his sins but as readers, it's pretty sad since MC didn't have a choice.

The Newbie Is Too Strong

Ongoing | shin jung-min (신정민),midas | 2019 released

44. Interesting and pretty similar to the other story where the guy builds things in no time. It’s interesting to watch but the main plot is kind of lacking and MC doesn’t have a distinctive personality like Dokja, Cale, or some of the funnier MCs which is what prevents this story from getting a 4 star or higher.

Heavenly Sword’S Grand Saga

Ongoing | Eunyoul (은열),Glee (글리) | 2021 released

40. It’s okay in terms of the plot, I’m confused about what MC is actually trying to accomplish and why/how he reincarnated. It lacks a lot of structure and plot details. The weight loss was realistic and the art is great, especially how the artist uses light to make eyes and certain scenes glow. But just like other MCs in Murim, this one is cocky and doesn’t have much else going on for him in terms of depth so I can’t find this enjoyable.

The Hero Returns

Ongoing | ant studio , 앤트스튜디오 | 2019 released

52, it’s cliche and follows your usual plot. This time there is a lot of emphasis on the idea of hero. Other than the once in a blue moon spotting of the mother son relationship, MC doesn’t have a unique goal or personality. Another issue is that they never explain the transmigration much—MC dies sometime in the future and comes back in the body of some kid in the past? And despite being an experienced dungeon fighter, man doesn’t question where he is or how he is here? It’s a plot hole really. But really boring nonetheless—they’re really wasting art on recycled plot.

Standard of Reincarnation

Ongoing | | 2019 released

12. Yeah; it’s pretty boring. I liked that the MC was strong despite being disabled and hated by everyone in his past life. But this story sucks because it takes things too far annd makes it feel cartoonish with the lack of depth. You mean no one saw how even his cousin was and believed everything blindly? Art is meh, not bad but I’m not a fan of the style or the character designs. Characters lack depth, good stays good and bad is loud and power hungry.

A Mild Noble's Vacation Suggestion

30.5 Chill adventure story about the prime minister of one world getting transported to the mirror world—he treats his treat like a vacation by going on adventure and gaining lifelong friends who are infatuated with him. Rizel misses his old world but he is building deep relationships in the new world where he doesn’t have any duty and people like him for him, I am interested if he will actually return to his world. The friendship between the characters is cute if not homoerotic—they like seeing each other sleep, cuddle, and protect Rizel with their life. This is one of my favorites.

Ygret

Ongoing | | 2019 released

56. Sweet story about an old man reincarnating as the crown prince, the friendship between spirits and his friends is cute and MC learning to be selfish is a nice change of pace. But the plot with Freed is so boring, like I don’t care man—they failed to establish and make us care about the past so plot where MC is dealing with his past is boring to me. Specially because it shows that MC hasn’t quite changed from the usual hero complex that he had. That is why seems that are meant to feel emotional or cool feel very flat.
