Where Tangents Meet

Complete | instantmiso | 2015 released

Artstyle : 10/10 Plot : 7/10 - Pretty good, not striking in any way tho. Male Lead : 10/10 - Not just some cardboard drawing to stare at, has complexity. Female Lead : 10/10 - I like how they show that even though Rachelle is a bubbly character, she's actually really sad. Overall - 9/10 Slice of life isn't my favorite usually, but I don't hate them! Instant Miso is a great artist and comic creator.

Dr Frost

Ongoing | LEE Jong-bum | 2011 released

Artstyle - 8/10 - Unique art style for a unique comic Plot - 10/10 - I really like psychology so I’m quite bias on this XD Male lead - 10/10 - It’s not a romance, but he does have really REALLY good character development. Female Lead - 8/10 - it’s not like she’s bad, but it’s not like she’s extraordinary either. She does have some good character development tho, not as detailed as Frost. Overall 9.5/10 - definitely recommended if you psychology, or wanna read something that isn’t romance

Bloody Sweet

Complete | Lee Narae | 2000 released

Art style - 8/10 - I like it’s uniqueness! Really cute, fits well because it’s sharp yet soft. Really reflects the storyline well. Plot - 7/10 - I quite liked it! I’m a bit of a sucker for cheese, so maybe I’m a little bias here hehe. I only read the girl arc, not the man arc. Female Lead - 9/10 - I really relate to her story, except I’m still ugly even if I cut my bangs or whatever lol. I liked her arc a lot, she had some major positive improvements her mindset. Male Lead - 5/10 - I’m giving him such a score purely because I haven’t really seen his arc, and during the FL arc he seemed very superficial and was only there to make her seem cool because she had a hot vampire boyfriend. I don’t plan on reading his arc unfortunately.. Overall - 8.5/10 - I don’t hate it, I think I would reread the FL’s arc again in the future. Maybe I’ll get around to the ML arc if I’m extremely bored.

Candy Man

Complete | Chanok,Romantic Restaurant | 2019 released

Art Style - 5/10 - Eh. Just Eh. Nothing extraordinary, nothing terrible. Plot - 5/10 - Plot can only be described as mid. Protagonist - 4/10 - I don’t like the fact that he pretended to be a girl to get gifts, and he’s such a pushover with things that don’t include Kimin. Love interest - 3/10 - Too clingy, very toxic, even his looks don’t save him sis. Kimin is just a bit TOO much. Overall - 4/10 - It’s decent, but just barely. Idk it gets boring super quickly, especially near the end. It’s not terrible though so if you do happen to stumble upon Candy Man, I wouldn’t spew comments about how bad it is. I’d probably just tell you it’s extremely mid.

Annarasumanara Manhwa

Complete | ha il-kwon | 2010 released

Art Style - 11/10 - I’m not really relying especially on skill here, I’m looking at the fact that the artist made the comic mostly black and white for a reason. The world being dull and the tid bits of childlike innocence brought beautiful hints of color to the panels was an exceptional idea to contrast the blandness of the world against the joy brought from real happiness. This style of color can help the readers easily understand the message the author is trying to convey. Plot - 9/10 - I really liked the plot, but the ending really killed me, and I was heavily disappointed. The ‘silent majority’ mindset contrasting with the magician’s creatively pure way of thinking created a deep plot point. Female Lead - 9.5/10 - I kinda didn’t like her at the beginning, but I do see where she’s coming from. In the end, something she worked up to believe was bad in her childhood she did when she became an adult. Male Lead - 9/10 - I can’t give him a 10 for a certain reason that I’d spoil everything, but he’s absolutely lovable. I wanted to protect him from everything while reading this. His whole thing about not wanting to become a “ real adult “ made me think about society. Overall - 9.5/10 - I still can’t forgive the ending, so I just can’t bring myself to mark this as a 10/10. It’s a beautiful and short story, I highly recommend to read this in one sitting.

Doctor Elise

Complete | Mini,Yuin | 2000 released

146 Art style- 9/10 - The art style at the beginning threw me off a lot, I could tell that this was probably the author’s first manhwa. It was messy, and lacked definition. The art got so much better, and I’m extremely happy with how unique it is compared to other manhwas. Plot- 7/10 - Actually, I never liked this manhwa all that much. The plot isn’t extremely unique, but I do still like a good clique once in a while. I personally absolutely loved the ending. It tied the story off so nicely, and reflected back on Elise’s achievements. I couldn’t help but feel this calming warmth while reading the last chapter. I feel like this manhwa is best when binge read, I got incredibly tired of it when having to read each chapter a day. Even so, for me even binging about 90 chapters on this manhwa, I didn’t really feel the incredible hype it has gotten from almost everyone that has read this manhwa. I don’t see why everyone practically warships this manhwa. Maybe I’ll give it a reread in case it’ll change my opinion. Female Lead- 7/10- She is a bit of a Mary Sue, whatever she gets herself involved in everything turns out a thousand times better. I don’t hate her, I think she’s actually a pretty solid isekai manhwa protagonist. I often like when authors show what happens to the ‘other soul’ in stories, I think that would’ve fit really well in Doctor Elise. Male Lead- 8/10 -I like how he’s not just a piece of art without meaning, he has an entire backstory and his own trauma. I like how he isn’t like an edgelord or anything, instead the author fits his trauma into his character realistically. Overall- 8.5/10 - this manhwa is worth reading, especially now that it’s finished. All I can say about this manhwa is that well.. it’s.. good? Nothing extraordinary, but it’s not bad. In the future I might reread this just to try to find why this manhwa is so hyped up.

Our Future (Cheok Kong)

Complete | Cheok Kong | 2000 released

Art style- 7/10- Not terrible, it’s like a simplified version of most BL artstyles. I think the author needs to work on drawing females, I literally thought Niki was another gay dude . Plot- 5/10 - Uhhh well it seems like an uncreative yaoi plot, plus he only uses his power ONCE in the entire goddamn manhwa. The sole part of his power is that he gets with his manz. I hate that the other dude that said anti gay stuff got like the biggest pass of the century- WTF. I get that he’s supposed to be trying to deny it but uh can someone chew him out for saying that shit???? Protagonist- 5/10- Our protagonist here is just so plain. Again he’s not terrible but he’s just kinda eh. Love Interest- 7/10- Yeah he’s hot. I like him that’s why he gets extra points, . I like how he kinda has a past. Overall- 5/10- Uh well so it’s very very absurdly mid. Like that’s all that comes to mind. Mid. Plain. It’s just eh. It’s not a bad read, it read it if you kinda just want something to a yaoi to read.

Make Me Bark

Complete | Sagold | 2017 released

Art Style - 9/10 - Better than most yaois, it’s fully colored and the art style is Plot - 5/10 - It’s ok, really predictable, but it’s sweet. Protagonist - 6/10 - Again, pretty typical yaoi protagonist, nothing too special. Love interest - 6/10 - Hot, but really predictable. Nothing special either. Overall - 5/10 - It’s extremely meh, everything about the plot is just way too predictable. Art’s pretty good tho.

Mystic Messenger

Complete | Cheritz co.,Ltd,멜쥐,Giman,Merig | 2019 released

Art style - 10/10 - The art style was comparable to promo manhwas- it was absolutely stunning and added the right amount of detailing to the characters. Plot - 6/10 - Let's just say that the reader didn't play or know of the story of the game. The reader would still find this manhwa a little boring. I have actually played the game, and I'm deeply disappointed that the story became so dull in this adaptation. WHERE THE HELL IS SAERAN?? What about the whole green eye thing? ISN'T HANA GOING TO TELL THE REST OF THE RFA THAT RIKA IS INDEED ALIVE??? Why did Hana just instantly change her mind who she wants to be in a relationship with like a day or two AFTER SHE CONFESSED TO ZEN THAT SHE LIKED HIM. HE SAID THAT HE LIKED HER TOO. TF. Also saying that Saeyoung is the closest RFA member to her is a complete lie. You literally met him later than other RFA members ( that's not really a problem, but he was really secretive with stuff then so there was no development between the two ) and the only time you had a deep convo with him is that ONE TIME YOU TALKED ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD. ONE DAMN TIME, GIRL!!! The story built up the friendly relationship Hana had with the rest of the RFA fine, I wouldn't say it was the most realistic considering they were all overly kind? Idk, it's been a hot minute since I played MM, but still the story built up the fact that HANA AND ZEN LIKED EACH OTHER. I'm not a Zen stan or anything, but just throwing away this build up for this LAST MINUTE THING is stupid. I really like Saeyoung too... WTF. All and all, this story was like eating vanilla ice cream without the vanilla. It looks appealing, but the experience is simply too plain. Female Lead - 6/10 - Hana's nice. Not terrible, but not a shitty character either. She has a back story and really considers her friends in the RFA. Idk why the guys liked her so much, to me she's a really surface level character. Male Lead - 6.5/10 - Saeyoung is so much more than that. WHERE'S HIS TWIN BROTHER? Saeran is my favorite character! The story barely depicted his story or the depth in his character. I know that this story probably had to end at set amount of episodes so complaining about not having as much depth in the characters is probably the most ' well ok obviously but there's not enough time ' thing I could complain about still. We know so much about Zen, why not Seven? If Seven's the ML why do we know way more about the secondary male lead? Overall - 6/10 - I'm going to be honest, the reason why I suffered through this plain ass story is because it's based off of MM and the art style is immaculate. It's more content for the game, but I'm pretty sure a fan's adaptation would've been ten times better. They should've focused more on the story and not the art, although the art is UGHHGGGG SO GOOD. All and all, if you've played the game, I'd recommend reading this when you don't have to pay too much attention to the manhwa. If you're really focused on it, you'll get bored, so maybe read it in class? That's what I did at least. Play the game if you like the concept of the story, but not the execution!
