Boku no Hero Academia

The story of a how a young, powerless boy becomes the no. 1 hero in a world were everyone has superpowers. I love the characters and I'm emotionally attached to this story enough so that I've found myself tearing up several times while reading this. My favorite character is Bakugou because you can really see how he grows as a person and a hero.

One Piece

Ongoing | ODA Eiichiro | 1997 released

One of my favorites. Although the beginning was a little bumpy for me, what really held me on a tight grasp was the One Piece world. It has pirates vs marines, a corrupt world royalty that enslaves innocents and whom the marines must protect, a variety of living beings such as fishmen, mermaids, angels, talking animals, giants and dwarfs. The arc with Vivi (the complete alabasta arc) is suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper long (that arc was the one that felt longest to me lol) but getting through it to see the rest of the story is really worth it. Some chapters are annoying but there is always a chapter that makes you feel extremely happy that you're a part of this.

Magic Knight Rayearth

Complete | CLAMP | 1993 released

I wish it was longer and had more romance <3 The characters are lovable and the story is light-hearted.

Naruto

Complete | kishimoto masashi | 1999 released

It was a great story overall. Personally, I find Kishimoto's ability to connect characters to the story unmatched. I had never read a story where all characters were so interwined to each other. Characters from early in the manga were relevant even in the later half of the story or after their deaths. There honestly werent that many characters given the length of the manga but they were all memorable and they were all necessary to the story to the point where if you took one out you would be left with a gap. It was brilliant storytelling and that made Naruto spectacular to me. The only thing that could've been better was the romance as it was something that Kishimoto obviously struggled with but it's not a big deal since shounen manga don't need to be romantic. There are other shounen manga such as One Piece, Dragon Ball, HunterXHunter, and Captain Tsubasa that don't focus much on romance development. Kishimoto still tried though but the result came out bland though the extra episodes after the end of the manga (the shippuden season 21 episodes) have romantic moments worth noting (specially Naruto's wedding).

Rokudou no Onna-tachi

Ongoing | Nakamura Yuji | 2000 released

A manga full of strong women

xxxHOLIC

Complete | CLAMP | 2000 released

Tokyo Ghoul

Complete | ISHIDA Sui | 2000 released

My only issue is that the story writing can be very messy. It's hard to keep up with who's who
