I Thot You Was a Toad's manga / #school daze(58)

This is a surprisingly addictive story. Hero worship turns into love for a lonely boy and the substitute teacher who has been taking on delinquent gangs in their neighbourhood. Amazingly, it looks like this manga will actually address the issue of adults and minors.

This is a pure school-daze teacher x student fetish story, so admittedly, not my favourite genre. This one doesn't even take advantage of its own structure to develop some authenticity in the characters. The main disappointment was trying to figure out how or why the teacher fell for such a gormless kid. There's no chemistry. The plot is mostly based on the teacher committing some transgression and the student overreacting angrily and getting pinged with penalties for disrespect, throwing him back into company of same teacher. Peripheral threats come up, but are never developed. In the end, when the student is finally seduced, the story conflict flat-lines and the teacher comes across as a predator.

Ever since he failed an academic achievement exam, Kazushi spends his time farting around with friends, girls, at karaoke and restaurants, any place but home where he has to face his disappointed parents and younger brother, Keishi, who keeps trying to reach him. One day, at an arcade, Kazushi forfeits his lips to a boy's kiss when he loses a wager, and Keishi catches sight. Kazushi learns what Keishi thinks of that after a stolen kiss when Keishi assumes Kazushi is fast asleep, and ths is, in turn, followed by one of the flattest conflict resolutions I've seen in a manga, a clunky scene which just doesn't fit with the realism of the initial chapters. It was as though the editor told Cam to wrap things up now and end this on a happy note, but I'm ambivalent about the way she did it.

Kirirara is all-boy, but his mother entered him into a beauty contest as a youngster, which he won, so he has something to prove about being all-boy. It's just that when he's next to his neighbours, the cool brothers, especially Ken, he feels other things.

First sex ends up as a dud for a couple of friends from high school, which means sex is banned ... except the seme is willing even to train for a marathon to win back the chance.

Two friends from high school switch from best mates to actual mates when one spots the other masturbating while calling his name.

Prequel to Hitorijime Boyfriend: Kensuke and Hasekura were childhood friends who parted on bad terms, but when they are reunited in high school, Kensuke is delighted that Hasekura bears no grudges. But then Hasekura tells him he never saw him as a friend, and that there was no reason to get together unless he could touch Kensuke in a way that makes the boy uncomfortable. Fortunately, Kensuke does have a spine and a way of taming Hasekura.

Cutesy boy, who gets bullied all time just because, and who possesses the supernatural ability to turn every male gay just by taking off his spectacles, acquires protection from the toughest kid in the playground in exchange for turning into his sex-toy.

NOOOOOOOOOooooo!!! Don't end it there! Train groping, bathroom sex, out-of-control fantasizing, sounding with weird implements, and, after all that .... *sigh* open ending.

There isn't a socially awkward situation that Tsuchiya can't aggravate by making it even more socially awkward, but Serizawa does himself no favours by holding his cards a little too closely to the chest. Serizawa wants Tsuchiya to help out with planning school field trips to a region of Japan he seems to know intimately, but that's a cover for his real feelings, and Tsuchiya knows it and throws it back in his face. Asou Mitsuaki has a great sense of drama and can make the unlikeliest characters seem alive and in the moment. It helps that her artwork is so beautiful too.
