Doukyuusei (NAKAMURA Asumiko)
Two boys with wildly different personalities meet at school over a musical project, connect and go through their last year of high school, with all its incumbent transitions, together. Sweet, slow and clear.
Sotsugyousei
A series of vignettes continuing the relationship started in Doukyuusei dealing with illness in the family, graduation and moving forward in life in spite of the fear that distance and personal differences brings. Very mature and realistic story, which also happens to be quite romantic and pure.
Nee Senpai, Oshiete Yo
Crowded out of his home, after his mother remarries, Hirano moves into the dormitory at his all-boys' high school where he is put under the care of Morioka, a student who had been accused of bullying his juniors in the basketball club. At first, Morioka's taciturn deflections and sullen appearance make it seem as though the rumours about him are true, but Hirano discovers there's more going on. A story that starts off slowly and builds momentum and interest as it goes on.
Friends Like A Lover
A series of short stories about gay schoolboys. The first is a trio of childhood friends who cannot bear to separate as they grow older, and so expand from an original couple to a threesome. The second story is related, and shows the successful dissolution of the triad. The third involves gambling for a Master/Slave relationship, and getting real about circumventing incest. The fourth story has a similar theme about non-exploitive relationships, only with a promiscuous young man. There is lots of sex and passion, but it all seems to go a bit too far to make the jump from romance to realism.
