I Thot You Was a Toad's manga / #horror(6)

Traditional Japanese ghost stories and folklore are used as the backdrop and livelihood for a pair of late Edo-period ghostbusters as they gradually fall for each other. Lively, engaging and interesting with more of a sentimental and melancholic feeling, rather than creepy horror or gore, the imagery is enhanced with traditional woodblock print references and Miyamoto Kano's beautiful artwork.

Confusing and muddled. It starts off as a sweet romance and turns dark, then darker, revealing a horror-filled tragic backstory. Somewhere along the way, there's a suicide pact, and then, ghosts. Good luck making sense of it.

Series of oneshots mostly dealing with desire and discontentment in a supernatural, after-death context, usually along the lines of "Surprise! The wish genie is a dick."
