The Rain in Montecarlo
A cinematic treatment of a story about an aging actor, his last chance for a successful career with a film about gay men in Monte Carlo, and the young actor coaxes and seduces him into taking that very risky role. The characters fit so comfortably in this story, even the humorous sex scene was naturalistic and believable.
News Na Kare!
Famous television idol scares the bejeezus out of a neighbour by prowling through his garden and around the apartment complex in seriously fishy disguises. Neighbour doesn't watch the telly, ergo doesn't know who famous guy is. His lack of awestruck obsequiousness makes him attractive, but what happens when he finally finds out the actor really is all that? As with all Yamato Nase's work, the uke is obvious and looks very child-like, but the story seems to be headed toward light comedy romp.
Bicchi na Neko wa Koukishin ni Katenai
Lacklustre start, but this story deepens and improves as it moves forward, beyond the old trope of a cocky, young, gay actor who exchanges sexual favours for prize roles. While fishing for producers, Kyousuke meets someone who appears to be a lowly crew member and shouldn't have so much charisma, but turns out to be more than a match. Soon the fragile threads holding Kyousuke's self-confidence unravel as a suppressed trauma from his past resurfaces along with the actor who caused it.
Gomen Ne Idol-kun
Two JPop boy bands, one established and the other freshly launched. Here, the whole world is gay (except for one boy ... maybe ...) and infatuations bounce around more than springs on a mattress. Still, oodles of cute.
Love Lesson (chidori peko)
Two actors, Mineyuki, a seasoned performer, takes the younger inexperienced one, Ayami, under his wing, to teach him lessons in romance which quickly turn real. The strange industry they're in dictates that they have to hide their relationship from the public, but the manager insists they end it completely.
Virgin Pink Scandal
I hate to tell you this, Sakamoto, but you need an anatomy lesson. That's not your stomach.
Haru wo Daite Ita
Youka Nitta's sweeping soap opera about Katou Youji and Iwake Kyousuke, two AV actors who risk everything to be true to themselves and each other. This story starts at the beginning of their relationship while they still work as porn actors, through negotiating their places and integrity in Japan's Byzantine entertainment industry, until they emerge with the approval of families, friends and colleagues; live together in their own home; make the movies they want, and eventually take responsibility for a production company, enduring treachery, censure, humiliation, attempted murder and even a huge earthquake in the process. The boys get a little overwrought at times, and ending feels a little truncated, no doubt in part to Youko Nitta's scandal, but the sex is hot and the overall arch is absorbing. A yaoi classic.
