Pulse (ratana Satis)
3.5 stars. Nothing Earth shattering, but good, solid light entertainment. Fave points: the beautiful art; grey-haired bitch's outfits; the smut, (although the BDSM was, sadly, only extremely light). I also like that the need for consent was emphasized throughout.

Wow this mangaka actually did her research! By her own admission, she set out to show a BDSM relationship as a deeply loving one, and imho she succeeded in that, even if the actual play was too tame for me. I thought it was a bit cheesy in parts, and the sub/m's gormless face and demeanor really irked me at times. Anyhow, I was really happy that FOR ONCE, supposed 'BDSM' was not portrayed as abusive... Then I went to read the comments, and frankly I just want to tear my hair out! Some people were calling the Dom/S an 'abusive piece of shit', when there was not an ounce of abuse and he clearly doted on his sub/M! Others were kink shaming and saying that those of us who like that kind of thing should be locked up in institutions! Argh! I can only assume that such commenters are 11 years old, and lack the emotional maturity to understand such a relationship! And those same commenters are probably fans of 'Killing, Stalking', lol smh. (Not that there's anything wrong with liking 'Killing, Stalking', it's just the hypocrisy that irks me.) Anyhow, I would agree with one commenter, who summarised this manga as a 'highly romanticised, but somewhat realistic portrayal of a healthy BDSM relationship'. I might reread if in the mood for something romantic.
