tsukineko's manga / #caring seme(19)

Asobi Neko Norari Kurari

Ongoing | MOTO Haruhira | 2012 released

Koi wa Koi o Shiru

Complete | KUJOU Aoi | 2000 released

Aww! I'm really glad they got their happy end, especially so because they got there by trusting each other and by communicating! So much unneccessary drama and conflict could be avoided or resolved if more yaoi and rl couples did the same! Anyway, this was a nice and sweet, light read, though it was sad to see Shouji suffering at first at the hands of that lying, cheating, uncaring, game playing bastard lol! Minami was pretty hot as well as caring.

Therapy Game

Complete | Hinohara Meguru | 2017 released

Aggghhh! Why did I give in to temptation and read this even though it's incomplete?!?! That 3rd chapter ends on such a horrible cliffhanger! Well thankfully it shouldn't be too long of a wait, according to the comments. It's a thoroughly enjoyable read: pretty art; good looking and endearing characters; an entertaining and engaging storyline; very well paced so as to keep up the tension and suspense; and brimming with an exquisite tenderness that will surely heal our poor, world-weary uke, (and maybe certain readers). Oh yeah, and gotta love those cute, cat-like dogs, (or are they foxes or something?) I like the fact that the plot and characters feel relatively realistic, (although obviously a highly romanticised version of reality, lol). It manages to be dramatic without becoming MELOdramatic, and it's heartwarming and sweet, but not fluffy nor diabetes inducing. It's not a particularly deep nor thought-provoking manga, so I can't rate it above 4 stars, but it's certainly high quality light entertainment. The h scenes are too short, but lovely, and certain parts, (especially that back kissing scene!), are so tender as to be not only erotic, but quite moving. Apparently, this is a spin-off of a couple of other manga - 'XXX Allergy', and 'Secret XXX', about the mcs' brothers! - so I'm going to read those whilst waiting for this one to update...

Love Home

Complete | kiriyu kiyoi | 2004 released

This is pretty cliché old-school bl tbh, but it has its good moments. The 1st couple's relationship started so fast it was freaking hilarious - they move in together after knowing each other for a matter of days lol! As for the 2nd couple, I always find the crying puppydog uke type really annoying, but the seme was more of an interesting character, despite, (or maybe due to?) acting like a complete asshole at times.

Neon Sign Amber

Complete | OGERETSU Tanaka | 2015 released

4.25 stars. Beautifully drawn and written. Funnily enough, for a manga with a supposedly expressionless mc, the facial expressions are beautifully well rendered and very expressive. I especially love the eye contact the mcs have going on between them. The story itself is realistic yet fluffy. It deals with some difficult subject matter, (1st time being attracted to the same sex; trauma from bullying; homophobia; self-loathing), but only on a fairly superficial level. I appreciate the subtle manner in which such complexities were handled, gently tugging at the heartstrings without resorting to melodrama. However, I feel that the surface was barely scratched, and that we could have delved a lot deeper into psychological territory if the manga had perhaps been longer. Tbh I feel kind of like I was just given one bite out of some really tasty food, and I'm left simultaneously thinking 'that was great!' and 'is that all?!'

Don't Cry Baby

Complete | KINOSHITA Keiko | 2000 released

First read 'Meguriau yo, Baby', which is apparently the prequel to this, (although I can't see how from the descriptions. This looks quite funny, especially the way the uke comes out to the seme fufufu!

Nakimushi na Little

Complete | KINOSHITA Keiko | 2000 released

Meh. Ok but nothing special. Disappointing because I know that this mangaka can do better. Also, 2 of the stories are barely even bl, and the rest are just shounen ai.

Katsubou Animajemera

Ongoing | AION Kiu | 2019 released

Sweet & hot. This time it's the alpha who has the trauma, and the omega who heals him of it. I've only read 1 chapter, but I really like both of the mcs. They're both kind-hearted, earnest people, and they COMMUNICATE what they're thinking/feeling, too, which is unfortunately not so common in yaoi! Oh I saw that someone tagged this as s&m, but I didn't see any hint of that in the part that I read. Well if it has some somewhere along the way, great! If not, I still want to read this manga.
