Kare Otoko Ni Izumi O

Complete | arai sachi | 2010 released

This was quite original, as far as yaoi manga stories go. It was also quite gripping - I actually found myself anxiously turning the pages, wondering what would happen to the mcs and their relationship. I was worried for the mcs, because they were obviously rather fragile, so I feared they might either break each other or break without each other - it was a dangerous balancing act at times. I'm glad they were able to grow a little healthier as their relationship progressed. That moment with the strelitzia plant was just so beautiful, and I'll admit that I shed a tear along with the uke! Plot: 4 stars; characterisation: 4 stars; smut: 4 stars; art: 3.5 stars. I would reread this manga. My main niggle with this work, is that the mangaka seemed to be hesitating between making it a twisted and dark story of unhealthy codependency and obsession, and a story of healthy, idyllic love that heals the mcs of their various issues. I think she was going for the latter, but at times their dark sides came a little too much to the forefront. However, perhaps it is precisely due to this that there was so much tension and suspense throughout.

Tojikometai!

Noboseru Karada

Complete | MINAZUKI Akira | 2000 released

3.5 stars. I particularly liked the cool mum and bi uncle! It's also cool that towards the beginning the seme asks the uke if he has a problem with gays OR BIS. All too often, bisexuality is invisible in yaoi, (and in rl). Rs

Kiss Kiss Kiss

Ongoing | YAMAGATA Satomi | 2000 released

It says it's ongoing, but it seemed kinda complete. Just in case there's more, I've read only the 1st chapter. Anyway, I thought it was beautiful! Quite a sensitive exploration of the uke's confused feelings. And good on the mangaka for her bisexuality awareness!

Love Song (yamagata Satomi)

Complete | yamagata satomi | 2000 released

4.5 stars. That was really good! I'll definitely reread it some time. I don't know what kind of magic the mangaka used, but the characters, their feelings and their world were so vividly and realistically painted, that I felt - and still feel! - that I'm in their world, to the point that I DON'T WANT TO READ ANOTHER MANGA nor consume any other fiction, for fear that the characters might vanish into smoke. I also think it's the first time I've enjoyed a story about 2 timing, and liked all of the characters and understood how they came to be in that situation of 2 timing. It was very sensitively told. I also share and thus understand, the musical connection aspect, and I love the way that that was woven in. Also, all 3 of the guys are bi - yay! This manga is beautifully written and beautifully drawn. I'm so glad I read it! Edit: WTF?! Just noticed the shitty rating and my brain. cannot. compute! I guess maybe people didn't like the 2 timing or something smh!
