I love the anime (donghua?) of this, but not sure how the action sequences would come across on paper. I might read this once the 2nd season of the anime/donghua is over. Apparently, the anime/donghua is the back story + 1st 2 chapters of the novel combined, and the manhua follows the novel, so it might be worth reading to get the continuation after the anime/donghua. Note: It's barely even shounen ai - I mean, they obviously have feelings, but there's ZERO overt manifestation of those feelings = no confession, no kiss, not even any skinship, just a deep, rivals -> friends bond, with allusions to the fact that it might be more than that. Despite the woeful lack of tangible bl, let alone smut, the story is really entertaining, the characters are endearing, and the art is beautiful. Really worth watching in animated form, for the beautiful action sequences.
