This was a very interesting read! I really enjoyed that this explored the relationship between two people at different stages in their life. And how those stages affect our perceptions of love, responsibility, and our choices. For example, when the characters are in middle school their behavior is largely reactionary. When they are in college they have more freedom to make decisions but don't yet know how to take responsibility for their own feelings. When there is a 10 year age gap, we see the blush of youth fade away and the weight of responsibility resting heavily on their shoulders. I really enjoyed the character development! The only thing that I wish was different was the intimate scenes, the author clearly made the choice to illude to sex without actually showing it and that is 100% a fair choice. But I would have liked to have more focus on their physical intimacy in some way because, to be honest, a lot of the time the sex scenes seem a bit rushed and thrown in. Which to me sort of undermined the depiction of their relationship.
