Death Is The Only Ending For The Villainess
This was pretty interesting. The protagonist is flung into the world of a dating sim, and she actually can't do much at first but function as the game wants her. It's actually pretty great. The character dynamics are really good and the relationship development between the characters and the way some parallel the mc's actual(?) or previous(?) life is also super cool. The angst is delicious and the triumphs are so worth it. The fear of dying is real and well explored, and the comedy is great! This has been one of the few manga to actually get me to laugh out loud, which takes a lot. Really liking the story so far, although the fact that the dating sim the mc is in has the mc's 2 brothers positioned as potential lovers is kind of squick. Even though they aren't even related by blood to mc, it's still problematic for me. Thankfully the MC isn't even remotely interested which is nice, but still, the way their points wrack up in certain scenes is something i have to actively make myself ignore. It's still a great story! Would definitely recommend! There's like 1 or 2 chapters that aren't translated well at all, and they did almost make me drop the story, but thankfully the competent Asura Scans took over, and I was able to go back to enjoying the story. Really hope this continues to be translated by a group like Asura Scans who's english is this good.
I Choose the Emperor Ending
IT was alright. The romance was adorable and cute, and also endlessly annoying. The love triangle is a shit trope that just needs to die. Cain was great, but instead of stepping back and being happy for the person he loved, he did the shitty thing of trying to take control. It just wasn't good and I hated it. His blatant betrayal was glossed over in the end, and hell the ending itself was pretty bad. Like i really REALLY wanted an ending, and what I got was pretty bad. Instead of character not going back to previous life because already dead, it's character stuck in a vr world decides to stay there and leave her real world body to rot i guess. The more baffling thing was that another character also comes to the VR world. This person has no reason to stay at the end, but chooses to anyway. It's all really stupid and I'm really disappointed. The romance between the main couple is great and they actually get together halfway through the story and get some lovely fluffy moments together. It's great! But when the plot isn't focused on them and their relationship, it falls flat and just isn't good. MC also just becomes an amazing inventor who can easily invent and implement her inventions without any problems ever. Like magic really. Might as well have just made her a particularly gifted witch. A genderbent Merlin. I wouldn't really recommend this story, which I admit is a bit strange since i read it to the end. But that ending was just such a let down, and there's far better already out there.
When the Villainess Loves
So this started pretty good and interesting. Wasn't all that happy about the harem aspect, but I was able to ignore it in favor of the characters and good art. Unfortunately at around chapter 61, the translation takes a sharp turn and you can barely tell what's happening anymore. It's unfortunate and kind of rage inducing. The mangled english is terrible and I'm sad cause it's making me miss a lot of important conversations and emotional story beats. Honestly, if you have no grasp of english why insist on translating into english??? It's idiotic and I'm certainly not going to thank that kind of translator, much less "buy them a coffee" or "support them on patreon". Might as well read the original korean, and pay the actual original creator of the comic. >_>
Lady Baby
An interesting tale of a girl who... goes back in time to her birth after a series of unfortunate events (she doesn't die). Mystery should be one of the tags for this, but I didn't add it because... well it's window dressing for the plot. For me, the plot doesn't focus enough on the mystery, and there's just too much fluff with the family. Also it's basically a harem story cause everyone is just falling for MC left and right. ML is only properly introduced around chapter 80 or something, and everything else is just everyone fawning of over how cute, pretty and smart MC is. They slowly introduce magic and mana, but not very well, and it's just not my cup of tea. It's honestly mostly slice of life, which is fine for those who like that sort of thing. It, unfortunately isn't what I come to Isekai/reincarnation stories for. Everything is a slow burn and therefore I find myself equal parts intrigued and bored. I do recommend giving it a try, as the story isn't bad, it's just not for me. The translation starts good and then there's once again a series of chapters "translated" by people who don't speak english. Also come chapters have missing pages and it's just.... a mess and a half to get through before someone who has basic knowledge of english makes the story comprehensible again. It's a shame but you miss some important interactions and world building because of the gibberish translations. The gibberish comes in around after chapter 90? I think, and it's like 10-20 chapters before it gets better. =_= sucks. The Romance makes you pray for more time skips. Also it's a reverse harem so it's already not something I'm into. Ugh... I just... I don't want to read about older people in child bodies making moony eyes at each other. It's just uncomfortable. Nor is the romantic moments between 5 year olds better or at all good. Just... Nope, dropping it and looking for something else now, before I end up on a watch list or arrested. (ಠ ∩ಠ)
Kill the Hero
This is another "reality is a game" kind of story a la Solo Leveling, only the mc in this is pretty much an asshole. And I do mean that in the most affectionate way. Like House from the doctor show from years back. He's a smirking badass who's also an asshole. Story is revenge driven and fun to read. Something that bothers me a little is that I get the feeling the character knows a little too much about certain things. I think it's just not well established, but a lot of the darker dealings of the Messiah guild the MC knows about, I was under the impression he'd have no way of knowing seeing as he was being used and MC thought everything was in service of saving the world and shit. =/ Otherwise, it's fun, no romance just intrigue and action. (ノ ̄ᗜ ̄)ノ✧*✲゚*。⋆
Return Of The Legendary Spear Knight
So this starts off great, and gets you pumped for the beat-downs to come, and does deliver on those for the most part. Then things start to get complicated when it starts telling us about the other kingdoms? Empires? whatever, and their own inner strife and political intrigue, and... I just can't keep all that shit straight. Can we please just focus on what MC is doing and stuff that he is directly involve with please? It's getting a bit too crowded and taking away some of my interest by showing me stuff that's kind of boring. And that's because it's an exposition dump. Exposition is good, but only when introduced correctly, this feels like I was pulled away from the comic to read a history textbook. But for the most part the plot is good and the story keeps you engaged and honestly I love how smirky and confident the MC is. Also, everyone is hot.... Like seriously, the vast majority of characters regardless of how advanced in years, are hot. What is happening? All the villains and good guys are all ridiculously hot! Also, also, is there a missing shonen ai tag or something? MC sort of acts disdainful towards all girls, mentions a significant woman from his past who he specifically makes clear he wasn't in love with, but calls the pretty boy pretty and makes him blush and caresses his face a little. What? It's fine, and a nice twist I guess... And dude is nice only to guys mostly. Oh! Also, MC's mom! For someone who was so important to mc, she's basically a plank of wood. She is so underdeveloped that MC might as well have been hauling around a painting. And she's barely in the story despite him being all happy at managing to save her. She isn't shocked at the change in her child, she isn't outraged at someone trying to murder her and her son, she seems to have barely any reaction other than mild worry, or motherly smile. There is nothing else to her and it's frustrating, because in the end she's not a character, but an object to be saved. Was there a need to keep her alive at all? Especially when she's kept around and treated as important but in the end is shelved by the author. The author had mom accompany Mc to the capital and live with him in a house and then had her move out "for her own safety" and then she was never heard from again! She's finally written out of the story, which is good cause the author clearly had absolutely no interest in her. What is she in the story for?? ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Edit: Aaand now at ch 94 this is starting to look like a harem after all. All the girls are falling for him and wanting to marry him, which is annoying. Fortunately it's not interfering with the plot too much. As of yet anyway. But there has been one "cat fight" over the protagonist already, which is a bit disappointing. It's not gotten unbearable and I hate harems, but it's something to keep in mind for anyone not into that sort of thing.
Untouchable Lady
Another interesting story ruined by some group who can't actually translate to english, they might as well have not bothered and uploaded raws. You get about 61 chapters of story you can understand, and then you get chapters translated by people who don't know enough english to make sense. It's a shame, but I'm gonna have to drop the story. MC has a lot of trauma to work through, she's bad ass but also broken as she barely ever smiles. It's sad, and a good story. I would recommend it, except for all the chapters that need to be translated by someone competent.
The Way to Protect the Female Lead's Older Brother
So this story contains one-sided, unrequited incest and lots of violence. It's pretty fucked, and I'm more onboard with all the violence and gore and torture then I ever thought myself to be. The plot is interesting, the MC is engaging and the art is good. I recommend it! Translation ranges from acceptable to good for the most part except for the chapters translated by people with a weak grasp of english. Thankfully most chapters are translated by people with a basic grasp of english, and the story remains understandable, though it does take some effort from time to time. One star off for the declining quality in translation. An editor with good english working with the translator could fix a lot if not everything, but I guess people with good english willing to work with scanlation groups are just hard to find.
SSS-Class Suicide Hunter
This story pretty unique in it's own right, though it's framed and starts pretty normally for a story like this. A not very talented "hunter" dungeon-explorer-dude, one day is so envious of someone who's real powerful he receives the ability to copy skills of those who kill him. Meaning he has to get murdered by someone who's got an ability he wants. First skill he copies? The ability to come back to life 24 hours before he's killed. The adventure continues from there as our MC copies more skills, develops his talents and dungeon dives, or in this case ascends a tower and clears tower floors. What I found unique was that this story also contains visiting different worlds, and our main character is actually a pretty nice guy. The author is clearly fed up with assholes just being assholes and looking down on everyone but still being the main character. I know a few of those stories, I even like some of them, but it's also nice to see someone genuinely be wholesome without also being incredibly naive and um... stupid. There's a few bits and pieces of the story that bother me, mainly to do with his power of kinda sorta being immortal but still experiencing death and how it's difficult for me not to think about the effects all that trauma should be having on his psyche. I mean there are stories where people get tortured into insanity, that's all I'm saying. <_<;; It's perhaps touched upon way later in chapters 70-something, but while I absolutely loved it, I also find it quite late in the story, especially after all he's been through up to that point. Still that's more of a me problem than anything, and I only found this story cause I was looking through the "Revenge" tag. And boy was revenge had! lol All in all, I do recommend giving this story a read. So far there isn't any romance out right, and no harems either. There's a lot of focus on the main character, so getting to know and finding stuff out about other characters is very slow going. Despite this the story is still pretty good though.
Tale of a Scribe Who Retires to the Countryside
