How to fight

This is the story of a poverty stricken highschooler with a hospitalized mother, being bullied at school. He works to try and scrape together money to pay for hospital bills and other expenses. One day he snaps and fights back against one of his bullies. The other person is weak, so it works out and the fight somehow ends up online and going viral. He starts a channel called 'how to fight' and slowly starts making enough money for him to quit his other jobs and pay his bills. Along the way he stands up to bullies, deals with his videos being falsely claimed for copyright and other issues. The art is super good, and consistent, although you can clearly tell that there's a few panels being reused, though even then there are some changes. There's fanservice, but it skews more towards objectifying the guys than the girls. But there is both. The story is very compelling and the MC is very likable, although it does require one to suspend their belief about how certain things work. There's definitely plot holes, but I have found the story and most especially the characters compelling enough to not grow to dislike the series. Sometimes it feels a bit too queerbaity, I'm not actually part of the LGBTQ+ community so I can't say for sure if it actually is or isn't, but there's definitely some chemistry that's there, sometimes used for comic effect, a lot of the time it's just there. MC has plenty of girls crushing on him too, but not enough or in a way where I'd be calling it harem. The comedy is fucking great, it's so good and I love it. There's quite a lot of blood and violence and drama, but the comedy is sprinkled in there in such a way as to not get in the way. Some real WTF moments, that somehow make you laugh again as you think about them, but doesn't make you unable to take the drama and sad bits seriously. Another thing I'd like to gush about is the pacing. That is to say, there's plenty of action, but it isn't ALL action. You get character development, plot progression that doesn't necessarily involve MC fighting, and time to let the story breath after some intense scenes. Now, some of the characters are terrible people and then sort of become supporting cast that you then are supposed to like. Addressing some of the horrible shit they've done isn't done in the best way, and I can see how for some that would be a deal breaker. It wasn't for me, the story is already so ridiculous at times, it's easy to accept, but I can understand someone having trouble with that aspect. The translation is inconsistent. Chapters are uploaded from different groups and they range from competent to frustrating. I ended up going to death toll scanlations site and reading it from there because they have done almost all the chapters except like the first 3, and are ok. They have small grammar mistakes and typos here and there, but nothing that makes you unable to immediately understand what's being said or referred to. It's consistent and I will take small mistakes over translator app word salad any day. All in all I highly recommend giving this a read. Just be prepared for maybe having to change to different site to read.

Trash guy gets murdered, and then goes back ten years with all his skills locked and as a dungeon cleaner. He works to unlock his powers while slowly and unwittingly becoming a better human being. It's alright, but could be better if the scanlation group Night scans, was better at translating and didn't upload chapters with the pages completely out of order. I dropped cause it's far too much trouble trying to parse out what's going on. Takes you out of the story and ruins the experience. I don't recommend giving this a go cause you'll have to droop it anyway.

This webtoon is insane. I love it. As the summary says, it's about a guy who seems to be a civil engineering genius who dies in Korea and wakes up in the pages of a novel he'd just read. He's in the body of an alcoholic first born to some frontier baron. Everyone pretty much hates him, and he's destined to die along with his family at the beginning of the story to propel the story's protagonist on the start of his adventure. MC has none of that and uses his civil engineering skills to avoid dying. The art is fun, and fits the story, by which I mean it lends itself to action scenes well. I love how "evil" our MC looks all the time despite him doing absolutely wonderful things. His relationship with the protagonist of the novel is a really fun dynamic, though sometimes (I feel) they seem a bit cruel to each other. They aren't really friends, but you can tell they have some affection for each other. The plot so far doesn't contain any love interests for Lloyd, though as the story progresses and his achievements become greater and greater, father's do attempt to marry off their daughters to him. I don't know why everyone says he's extremely ugly, I don't find that to be the case, but I suppose next to the novel's protagonist he might be a little plain? He certainly makes no effort to dress more like a noble, so that really might just be on Lloyd. He likes his browns. (๑˃́ꇴ˂̀) The only thing I didn't outright like, and this is a personal preference thing, is the textbox. I don't find it funny, nor do I feel it adds much too the story for the "system" to have such a pronounced personality. The humor of it didn't quite land for me, but that's fine, the rest is really good. The characters are likeable, the story is great with a lot of comedy. The translation isn't good for most of the 90-something chapters, but passable. A variety of groups have translated chapters and they change intermittently. Because of this, the names for most characters changes constantly and it's annoying. The translations aren't word-salad level of bad, and I was able to keep reading, though I did have to rearrange words in my head so sentences made sense and also omit words that just didn't belong in sentences. Night scans has a proofreader that doesn't seem to have that much of a grasp of english and I hate that they get paid for stealing other people's work, then translating it. I'm just not down with this, which is why I never "donate". Anyway, this webtoon definitely deserves it's high rating! It's a fucking riot of fun and I highly recommend getting stuck in! ( •̀ᄇ• ́)ﻭ✧

This is the story of a guy who's borther dies. Because of his abilities in this game like world he gains power and is able to defeat the monster that killed his beloved little brother. The item he receives for the kill is used to turn back time, and from there mc's adventure really begins. The mystery aspects of the story are introduced slowly, but are extremely compelling. The characters are all likeable, but at the same time they grow to be so many that it's starting to feel like too many characters to keep track. I liked the beginning because there was a lot of wholesome hugging, and there's less of it now. I want more, though I don't know exactly why, but I want more wholesome hugging. Mc's kind of traumatized but it's not really followed through on that much, and there's one real abusive relationship which is initially treated pretty seriously, but then sort of brushed aside a little. Still the story is too interesting to really care about that too much, at least for me. There's some morally grey stuff, although some aspects of that, while addressed, aren't fully explored. At least not yet, there's definitely room to get into that, which keeps things interesting potential-wise. I adore the beast tamer aspect of the story, although I would have liked more time with the unicorns. But that's just me. There's barely any unicorns in fantasy webtoons and I find that a bit sad. Would be nice if they were as common as dragons. Anyway, I digress. The translation is good, the art is great so I recommend giving this story a go.

Life Completely Ruined

I wont bother with giving my own summery, it would be difficult. This story made me feel a lot of conflicting emotions. And a lot of second hand embarrassment, to the point I'd frequently have to do something else. Also a lot of wtf-moments or what-the-fuck-ery. It's definitely interesting, and if you're already familiar with this author's other stuff, then you'll likely have a blast. Personally it was a bit too wild of a story for me to really get emotionally invested in, so when real sad and dramatic moments happened I was aware of them, but not really affected. It's kind of the same as when I tried reading Gintama, except that Gintama was far more frustrating than this. This was a fun read in a way, and it seems to have really worked for a lot of people. I managed to finish the story and I do like how it turned out and I don't regret giving it my time. It's a shame, cause I do absolutely love "How to Fight"/"Viral Hit" whatever the title is these days, but this author's other works just don't work for me at all. The story is ok, if you like manager kim or lookism, you should probably like this too. There's references here and there to the other in-universe stories by this author. Oh, um.. the translation ranges from ok to "I wish these were translated by someone else". For some reason this author's works attract translation teams who may be great with korean but barely able to string two sentences together in english. It's definitely not word-salad level of bad when it gets bad, but not what I'd term good either. The art as always is brilliant! Never got any complaints about the art.

An extremely strong martial arts master is on his death bed and is about to pass on, when a subordinate manages arrives to feed him something that's supposed to save him. Despite this, the subordinate is apparently too late, and the master dies. He however awakens in the body of an apprentice from some other sect that uses a different cultivation method. It's once again, an adult in some teens body who trains to get stronger and regain his position at the top of the martial arts world. An evil man forced to live in the body of a disciple of a good sect. As he trains and fights and makes enemies and gets allies, mysteries crop up one after another on his road to achieve his goals. I like the story so far, it's got no superfluous romance, although I did get weird BL vibes from the character designs of one or two of the senior disciples which was funny. No actual BL though, and not really any het love either. Though waaay later in the story some girls do take an interest in MC. The art is good and the plot is pretty interesting. Our main character can be a little annoying at times, but it's mostly fun watching him go about living his new life. The cast of characters is growing a little more numerous as the story progresses, but thankfully the rest of the cast isn't being dragged along, which doesn't overwhelm the reader with trying to remember who everyone is. The characters are fleshed out enough to be distinct and memorable. The translation... Well the english isn't unreadable, but names and terminology change a lot between scanlators and it gets confusing trying to identify what sect, merchant, person they are talking about. Some left terms like "sasuk" with no explanation what that was, as well as some other terms and names that changed over some chapters as well. Calling merchants "tops" was... very weird, and also mc being called "master uncle" by his two students is extremely distracting with how unnatural and weird it sounds. Should have just left the original korean term or whatever, cause it just doesn't work in english. Even though it's Asura scans there's a lot of weird grammar, like unnecessary "of"s, "the"s and "a"s in sentences. Think I saw someone in the comments say it wasn't actually asura scans but some other translation group taking their credits page and pretending? I don't know if it's true, but it would make sense for the state of the english grammar. Perhaps? Weird af though, and utterly pointless if true. I think the mystery is engaging, and the story fun to follow along. Perhaps the other characters roll with mc's antics a little too easily, but I can't bring myself to mind as they are all slowly (and I do mean slowly!) but surely corrupting our evil MC's heart with decency. lol

Some dude falls asleep and wakes up as a grand prince in olden times korea. His new brother is the king and also the worst tyrant (apparently) in korean history. Dude tries to prevent rebellions and massacres so that he can stay prince, be with his hot wife and live a life free of responsibility. This was a wonderful action-packed story! There's the usual isekai staples of using modern day knowledge to better or invent things in the historical setting. Was loads of fun following the main character on his various antics. Cried at some of the more dramatic bits, and really love the brotherly love on display, even though there nearly wasn't enough of it to satisfy me. Would definitely recommend reading this and getting stuck into the story! It's also finished, so no having to wait for updates either! The art is good, the backgrounds and layout of the panels flows well, and the translation is overall good, though there are some extra words/letters here and there and some slight awkward phrases.

I Picked Up the Second Male Lead After the Ending

Ok. This is the story of some girl who finds herself reincarnated into the world of a novel she likes as a princess of a nation who barely has anything to do with the main plot. Said main plot is over and the two romantic leads are married and enjoying their "happily ever after". Girl wants to go for the "second male lead", not because she's in love, but because she's a fan and wants to make him happy, as he got his fool ass banished to some godforsaken, cold-ass duchy. He's this girl's fave character, and gosh darn it, she wants to make him happy! By attempting to get him to marry her. I dunno, being his friend would probably have been enough, but no, the dumb mc thinks going straight to marriage is the thing she wants, but somehow doesn't think about what marrying him would mean for their relationship. Now the story is sort of compelling, so it will keep you reading but unfortunately the plot isn't thought out well and as such, mc comes off as a 12 year old child. To be fair ages are never mentioned so I don't know her true age, but I was under the impression that mc before reincarnation was out of high school. So Mc is pretty sweet and nice, and just ripe for getting exploited in a toxic relationship, cause she's pretty naive and easily manipulated. She's not exactly unlikable in my opinion, so the fact she's an idiot isn't bad necessarily. Except the whole reason she likes the ml is because she's an idiot. I don't think mc and ml are going to develop a toxic relationship mind, m just seems like the kind of person who would fall for the Nigerian prince email scams... -Spoilers- The second male lead is exiled as he is, not because the original ml (hiss half brother) was being mean. It's because he couldn't take "no" for an answer from the original female lead. He fought his brother in order to fight for his love. A love that had already been rejected. And I HATE that the mc makes him out to be some tragic hero, because he wasn't. He brought that shit on himself, put his brother in a position where he almost had to execute family, and almost made the love of his life bear witness. What in the fuck did he think was going to happen if he won? That his lady love would suddenly not love his brother anymore and swoon into her arms, like "Ooooh! The fact you don't respect my feelings or decisions and tried to kill the man I love is soooo sexy! Take me now!" I am SO sick of stories that make two of the romantic love triangle fight each other and ignore all input from the person who's opinion and feelings matter the most. Dude is a villain, not some tragic hero. He didn't step aside to let the love of his life be happy, he actively tried to destroy her happiness, and selfishly demoted her to an object to be fought over and won. Fuck that shit. He deserves to have been sent as far from the happy couple as possible, and should thank his lucky stars he wasn't executed as he should have been for the treason. MC knows all this about him, which is why I call her an idiot. -End of Spoilers- The art is not to my taste. It's rather simple looking, though I do like the coloring style. It's not bad, just has aspects I don't really like, particularly the women. They seem to all look like children. The translation starts off fine, and then takes a nose dive incomprehensible, comes back up to barely understandable and then fine again. Aaand then it's just shit for waaay too many chapters. It rather tired me out and was a major contributing factor to me dropping this. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on this, even if the plot appeals to you, the translation will make sure to kill your enjoyment of the story dead.

The summary is good enough that I wont include my own in this comment and skip right to my thoughts. The story isn't bad, seems lgbt friendly, with one (female) character having relations with women, without anyone really making a big deal about it, which is nice. It's not really established whether same-sex relationships are taboo in this historical world or not, but the family and friends don't seem to think it's a big deal. There's definitely going to be background relationships between characters as well as the romance between the leads. It's a good enough start, but I couldn't keep going as the story didn't appeal to me much. I only got to chapter 14, but the relationships seemed to be forming organically. The familial relationships are sweet too. I do find it weird that our mc is from a family known for amazing strong women, and yet, they aren't allowed to become head of the family and must marry a man, who (i assume) will bee the new head. (Otherwise why would the woman need to get married?) This is despite them being allowed to serve in the military and have high positions in said military AND the family having made major contributions to the country. For generations. MC has a younger sister and she also has become a knight and fought in wars and shit. The men in that family are known for "being unable to do anything" 'cause you know, the women are in charge. And yet, apparently that isn't actually so... somehow?? Anyway, the conflict at the beginning is kind of weak, so maybe that's why I didn't find it as compelling? Like there's a severe lack of desperation here, if anything it's more important to find the wayward younger brother simply to make sure he's alright. The art... it's certainly better than anything I could do... well except for the horses, but that's because I'm way better with animals then humans, and this artist is clearly better with humans. That's fine. Unfortunately the art bothers me, specifically the eyes. They're too far up on the face most of the time and the irises feel too small or.. I don't know, I can't put my finger on it properly but it bugs the shit out of me. The eyes don't sit quite right on the face, and they look weird in profile too. Too large in profile, or too much whites, and/or the eye itself is not shaped quite right in profile. It reminds me of those terrible "how to draw manga" books from the 2000s. It's a shame cause the proportions of the people and anatomy are otherwise perfect, it's just the faces. Also the backgrounds seem quite simple for the vast majority of panels. The color use is great, and I really do like that ml is actually scarred, rather then having like a tiny line and calling that a horrible disfigurement. I don't know if this is true, but the art feels like the kind that's good for static shots where nothing much but talking is happening, however any actual action isn't done well. This may also be the kind of story where that sort of thing is completely absent despite the protagonist and loads of the supporting cast being knights, or warriors of some description. I don't know though, I never got that far. The translation is shaky, but understandable, although as I said previously, I haven't read that far into the story, so I don't know about later chapters. All in all it seems like a fine story, just not for me.

An amazing mercenary is betrayed and killed during a mission. He reincarnates as a high school kid who'd attempted suicide and finds himself with a loving family and new ordinary life in south korea. He wants revenge and goes about trying to figure out how to make that happen. This was interesting and fun at first, but unfortunately there's one thing that's a pretty big part of the story that I can't stand. It's harem-ish for one thing, and I hate that, but more than that, is the one love interest that's a high school girl that he doesn't immediately and outright reject. He strings her along, even though he clearly thinks to himself that he's 29 and implies the girl is way too young for him. Secondly there's a french 26 year old woman that kind of gets obsessed with him and her response to him proclaiming he's in high school is "well I'm french." Bitch what? How dare! Don't like this author's idea that all french women are pedophiles, or that the protag is stringing along a high school girl he's at least 10 years older. The rest of the premise was really interesting, but can't stand to idiotic romance in this. Just no.
