Hua Hua You Long
The art is really good in this manhua, it's pretty graphic in various aspects, so it's not right for everyone. There's a lot of rape and blood, etc, which will turn most people off. I like dark things like this though, so it doesn't bother me. It's too bad this has been dropped, better off reading the novel. Marking as completed since there won't be any new chapters.
Black Sun
Classic Stockholm Syndrome with BL and lots of smut. It was decent, I enjoyed the uncensored parts. However, the plot was all over the place and none of the characters were likeable, nor did they have any depth to them. It was a ok read, but I wouldn't read it again. Nothing new to the genre, and it's not extreme or unsettling enough to warrant extra thought on it.
War Dao Sanctification
The art is beautiful, but the translation does not do the story justice. Nothing so far makes any sense, and it's a waste of the the art. The manhua looks like a Chinese comic book, with the thick lines and bold colors. The story has no substance, and is meaningless. What a pity. The male lead is not properly introduced, and we know nothing about his motivations or ambitions, it's just a lot of empty talking. It seems like he had a redo of his old life, but sometimes he himself forgets about everything in his old life, when he should remember to successfully redo this life. Also, it's weird that he's so clueless about important things that he should have remembered if he already live through all of this before. There's nothing worth reading here at the moment, but maybe it will improve in the future?
The Banished Villainess! Living the Leisurely Life of a Nun Making Revolutionary Church Food
Female lead is reincarnated into a villainess, who is quickly banished to live as a nun, but she enjoys her new carefree life. Instead of despairing, she starts to cook modern Japanese food for the villagers. All is well until key characters from her villainess life reappear in the monastery she is living in, making her life more complicated once again. It's pretty decent, although weird and nonsensical at times. None of the characters are too stand-out though, so it's mostly forgettable. There isn't much of a plot going on, either.
A Kind Goblin's Bird
Webtoon where a girl who's abused by her parents gets discovered by a man in a goblin mask. Art is quite good, but I am not too fond of the plot right now. It doesn't make sense why the prince would take interest in her, and help her out of her current situation. We'll have to see if it gets better, but I feel like the art is wasted on this bad story so far. Update: Lore is utter nonsense about twins and goblins, sort of like changelings but slightly different. Each chapter is a waste of time to read. Just the two main characters being sickly lovey-dovey to each other, and nothing else happening. Update #2: Well, that escalated quickly in the end. Made no sense, and characters didn't earn their happy ending.
Sultan’s Love
The art is really good, and the paneling as well. I'm not getting a good feel of the characters right now, so I will adjust ratings as needed when more chapters are released. I like the ruthlessness of the sultan and I hope it's not just some cheap trick to make him seem mean for no reason, while he's nice to the female lead in a fake forced contrast. Will keep my eyes posted for more. Update: The female lead is an idiot, and the male love interest sultan guy is always saving her. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And it's creepy that he is in love with his father's concubine, even if they didn't sleep together. It's also the whole reason why he rebelled and killed all his siblings in the first place too. Really? Love over everything? It's just so cliche. They don't even really love each other...That's just what they want readers to feel, but I'm not fooled. Not much happens, they have some more sex, then she magically became more assertive, and boom, the end. Meh.
Broken Boy
Art is quite good, it gives a 1900's feel. Premise is male lead is in a complicated family where he's abused by his father, and he wants to bring him down by becoming a male prostitute. The man who solicits him has a grudge against the male lead's older half brother, so they join forces and have lots of sex. Convoluted plot shenanigans abound. The best part is the art, but I'm not too fond of the other stuff. It's just not compelling to read, since it's hard to sympathize with these characters.
Gintama dj - Mienai Kusari
Very dark and delicious, it shows the mental breakdown of a strong-minded character in a convincing way. Mind break is great when done right, and this is one of those rare times. It's pretty disturbing, so it won't be everyone's cup of tea.
31st Consort
It started off promising, but just lags in the recent chapters. I find the idea of having 31 consorts really stupid, since it's not like they will all be prominent characters. Just come up with a couple and have them compete so we'll get to know them better. I really hate it when authors make up a huge number for the sake of huge numbers and put no thought towards execution. As I suspected, only about three consorts are important, other than the main character consort candidate. She's like a bright, cheery, nothing-will-get-her-down type character, and it was ok at first, but now it's boring since she hasn't really been challenged. Everything comes too easily to her and it's not fun to read about. The king almost immediately falls in love with her, and she with him. Sigh.
