Lady Detective
This manga was dropped a long time ago, which was sad, since I wanted to read more. The art is pretty good, and the female lead is quite smart, but it's hard to judge something with so few chapters. A pity.
His Majesty Doesn't Want To Be Too Bossy
The female protagonist who is masquerading as her twin brother who died has now become emperor, but has no real power since the royal court officials are under the power of the prince regent. The girl is incredibly stupid and ignorant, and should not even be an emperor. There was a scene where everyone was bashing the emperor for being a terrible ruler and she was feeling angry, but as a reader, I cannot feel any sympathy for her. Instead of properly overseeing the matters of the country, she prances around in her girl outfit to look for a husband. Is this the way a true ruler would act? She's not clever at all, and is leagues behind the prince regent. I don't see how she will even grow if she doesn't realize her mistakes. The author is very good at drawing male faces, especially of the main love interests, but is awful at body proportions. The hands always look off and weird because it's either too long or too short. Update: I think it's finished at 62 chapters.
Where the Wind Stays
I really like Yusa-sensei's works. This new one looks very promising, with a lot of supernatural elements, where the male love interest is a cursed crown prince that can control evil spirits and the male lead is a rare individual who can see evil spirits. The art is fantastic, but the redness of everyone's lips bothers me a bit. Yusa-sensei is great at developing proper romantic storylines, so I'm eagerly waiting to see how this develops.
Queen Cecia's Shorts
This webtoon is so bad. It wants to be isekai version of Runway de waratte but can't even make itself appealing enough to be read. The art is really not good, but at least the author does an ok job at drawing clothes (can you imagine if they didn't?). There's so many problems with this story that it's trying to tell. If she was working at a factory that made clothes and died and isekai'd to this new world, she will not have the know-how to design clothes since patterning and designing are very different things. You really learn nothing about the clothing making industry reading this, because the author didn't bother to do any research and just wrote whatever floats their boat. The dream of the female lead is to make ready-made clothes, basically mass production of fashion. That seems so un-herolike and unimaginative. It's one thing to design the most beautiful clothes but it's an entirely different thing to wish to mass produce clothes to make lots of money. That's just being greedy and narrow-minded, as well as unambitious. That's why I cannot even begin to root for this boring-ass main character. And there's some side plot where she dresses like a man because she wants to be like Mulan basically. As a woman, no one will take her seriously, so she must be a guy to design clothes. Yeah. Completely stupid. Then the next thing you know, she's being arrested because they thought she was molesting a servant girl, and she laments about being disguised as a guy. You can't have it both ways. Also, you can be female and still molest people of the same gender. Sighhhhhh. Don't even get me started on the endless gushing of the Queen's cousin about how handsome he is. The art is just not up to that level where as a reader, I can also gush over how handsome he is, because he simply isn't! I honestly don't like it when the author of a work keeps trying to beat their readers over the head with how supposedly good-looking a character is supposed to be. It's ok the first couple of times to establish it as an important thought in a character's head, but not necessary in every freaking chapter. Like, we get it! And also also, they really expect us to think the Queen Cecia united 99 kingdoms? Please. Author, list all 99 of them for me. Or you can't because you just came up with 99 since it looks impressive as a number? It's literally impossible to conquer 99 kingdoms in a single lifetime, let alone however many years it took for this Queen.
Bride of the Snake
It's confusing what is happening, since there's no establishment of who the characters are, or what their motives or purposes may be. It doesn't do a good job setting up the story, but the art is very nice. Hopefully, it gets better with time but there have been no recent updates.
The Peerless Doctor: From Consort to Empress
They're trying to do a strong female heroine in this webtoon, but she comes off as unlikeable. I just don't buy that she's a forensic medical professional who also happens to know both Western and Traditional Chinese medicine, all three of those are very different specialities. It would be more believable if she was just good at one thing. Making a protagonist overly knowledgeable when she acts stupid is too unconvincing to be possible. I prefer Shen Yi Di Nu over this, even if it was weird that a doctor also knew martial arts, at least it is more believable. Besides, the female lead in Shen Yi Di Nu is actually intelligent, unlike this one. Just saying a character is smart doesn't make them smart. Show, don't tell! Also, the art is mediocre at best.
Ni Yu: God is a Girl
The art is quite good in this webtoon, it's above average for me. I like the look of the female lead, she's very distinctive. She's very smart and strong, and isn't easily fooled by scheming officials. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her. I only wish they did a better job depicting her as an actual person, rather than some revered object who rules the country, since I don't have a good sense of her personality, or her emotional connections. There's not much to show her inner thoughts, so it's hard to follow her character. It's funny they say women can't rule because they're too emotional, but I actually think she lacks emotion.
Pomegranate Blooms in Spring
It's alright. Art is average, not great. Female lead randomly has two dots on her face that bother me. Personality is rather boring, I know she is a child but there's nothing worth investing emotionally in her at the moment. Not much plot or conflict yet.
Trash of the Count's Family
It's pretty interesting so far, a man is isekai'd to the world of a novel he was reading before he fell asleep. He's a minor villain in the novel, and he's striving to live a peaceful life with as little conflict as possible. I think he seems more intelligent than other male leads in the isekai genre, so I'm curious what will happen next. The art is not bad, I really like the look of the male lead character.
