I think people are forgetting Kahol's context, if he accepted death, him and Kaveri would have been condemned to never see each other again and Kajol was never really aware of Kaveri's state, also he became a God and suffered all this years to bring Kaveri back, leaving him for someone knew, knowing he's still there feels like a betrayal, even if it wasn't fair for River, it's understandable that he choose Kaveri, i think people go to hard on him, when everything was product of a course and he didn't have any other options
