Complex characters and conflicted emotions abound - I would have loved to see more of these people, actually.

I like how they portray prostitution as the survival mechanism it is for the uke, he's not a slut, he does what he has to, to protect himself. And of course any story with a rescued kitty gets the paws up from my clowder.

Actually a rather complex plot with crosses and double crosses aplenty. Unfortunately there is also a lot of rape, but given the context, it's kind of expected for a prison drama.

Deals with so much history. The rise of AIDS, the war in Afghanistan and life in that awkward period of the early '80's to the early '90's.

Interesting reading as the characters try to sort out their feelings for each other, among other things, like who's on top.

I like how the differing cuisine philosophies are explored within the relationship.
