Spirt of 'Boy's Day' becomes a (hu)man thanks to a perverted grandson.

Complex characters and conflicted emotions abound - I would have loved to see more of these people, actually.

Plot is fast-paced (perhaps a bit too much so) but the action between Jamal and Leonard is hot - despite the 'fall in love with my rapist' yaoi trope being hauled out here once again. I would have liked more fleshing out of the ancillary characters, and perhaps a bit more fleshing out of the plot, but all in all, an enjoyable read.

Like extra-dark chocolate, the bitter sweet love story is meant to be savored. I was a little disappointed that there was such an ambiguous back story to Fushimi, it appears that he ran away from home, or that's my impression, but the reasons why he felt he needed to were left vague. Also, it's not explained why his personality is so passively docile that he'll go back to the place he was raped, yet has the strength of will to run away from home.

Actually a rather complex plot with crosses and double crosses aplenty. Unfortunately there is also a lot of rape, but given the context, it's kind of expected for a prison drama.

Needs a continuation. But a strangely likable series of stories about a pair of detectives.
