A Wasted Cow's manga / #Adventure(97)

This is a bit weird. They reincarnated someone who's basically a grandpa that still has perverse tendencies into a young girl under the pretense that the guy simply wants a new life to focus on improving his own combat skills. With this as the main context, the author keeps on putting in bits of sexual aspects which end up making no sense other than to derail the original flow of the story.

There's a lot of 5 star reviews for this story which is fine because the story is charming in a very cliche sense; however it's pretty shallow and contradicting if you look past it. The beginning showcases that the main lead realizes she needs to hide her powers and abilities so she won't be tortured and killed like she was in the past. This trauma causes her to steel her resolve and that was a big key to the plot. Unfortunately, the writer themselves forgot this and decided to make her character veer drastically to the opposite end of the spectrum. She becomes carefree and doesn't bother hiding her abilities/capabilities and gets into sticky situations she has a hard time with. This is a complete departure from the setting in the beginning where it was serious and meaningful. Now it feels like an absolute meme because she's just that airheaded, or rather, stupid. It's almost as if the author decided that there can't be a smart and serious female protagonist despite her initial resolve by describing her trauma as torture/rape/violation.

Harem tropes galore.

I wish I can give this higher than a 5* rating. The plot follows your stereotypical lineup for a redemption arc/story for the main lead by leading a better life, but her actions are smart and just calculated enough to not hinder story development. Needless to say, depending on how much you like redemption-esque stories, this one will fill you with a sense of satisfaction from seeing her actions. She obviously has a penchant for vengeance, but keeps herself in check and acts accordingly so she isn't lost in it. On top of this, she understands that her past self was naive and that she should learn how to live her own life with her own choices instead of forcing herself to meet everyone's expectations whether it be a woman/summoner/wife. Pretty art to top it all off and this is a pretty solid series. I'd definitely reread this again after it finishes just to take more of it in. TLDR: Common trope with a good story and good art. Worth the read.
