We met at an orphanage and grew up together. Hiro has always been following my footsteps – going to the same school, the same company, the same overseas team... He’s really like a loyal dog, always following my pace, listening and obeying everything I say or do, and helping me solve some issues. Actually, he's gifted, smart, and even more capable than me. Feeling inferior, I harshly told him, “Don’t follow me around anymore!"

"There's no way, I will marry you Ryuuji", were the bitter words handed back at Ryuuji, after his marriage propsal to his grilfriend. Heart broken and pissed off at the way he was dumped by his grilfriend, Ryuuji visits his best friend, Tomoya, to look for some comfort. However, Tomoya's inderect confession of,"I am glad you didn't marry her," evokes new feelings and desires in Ryuuji, he never knew he had.

The story starts with college student Taichi, who comes from a not-so-well-off household and is desperately searching for work. He (literally) stumbles across fellow student Kouhei while on a job hunt, and is incredibly enticed by the delicious bento Kouhei has in hand. However, something seems a bit off about Kouhei and when Taichi consults his friends about it, he gets an answer he really wasn't expecting: Kouhei is severely hearing impaired.
