From Points of Three
well im not bored yet. so thats a plus. its not esp sexy as far as ero BL comics go but its def more interesting than viewfinder or my suha was. two bl comics i tried in the same day as this one. whether it'll hold my attention until the end of S1 remains to be seen. but there's def potential. Edit: s1 completed and my favorite character is def Sun Yool. i decided to jump to his beautiful spin off series aka side story about him and his love story and I looooooved it. more than the main series and main couple. tho i do like heejae and jisuh as a couple. there's so much more warmth and fun in sun yool and haeyoung's romance imo. but also those two are jsut more my Type so to speak. tough strong guy whose shy and impossibly innocent and sweet and loyal? yes. and then Sun Yool is both the type of person i'd want to befriend or date. he's just adooooorable. (his temprement is similar to mine. he's such a gemini tbh). anyway, i havent finished the main series yet. im on chpt 42 there. but i did read all the side stories. if i were just rating the sides its def 4 stars but the main is more 3 stars for now. i like it but im not in love with it. and i probably wont ever be. but i def want to read it till the end. (anyway SO glad my favorite boi got his own beautiful and incredibly sexy romance. its what he deserves!). edit 2: finally finished the whole comic and it rly got me in the second half i gotta say. i do love the turning of tables on snakey types like heejae. seeing him cry his eyes out was SO satisfying holy shit. and the fact that jisuh was just petty enough to be happy about it too. *chef's kiss* but also when he said "i wanted to see you defeated by me" i was like daaaaaang. but also...i felt that. anyway this is a good one kids, definitely read. and its probably the most responsible bdsm portrayal in an adult comic ive seen so far. but ofc with the usual disclaimers (was also really impressed with the author devoting several parapgraphs in her end of season notes to clarify that if a guy like heejae appears in your life trying to manipulate u into doing kinky stuff he's "100 percent trash and should be avoided" i was like....this lady gets it. whats fun in fiction isnt for real life dont try this at home folks!) anyway i really felt the care and attention the author put into the character's motivations and relationship once i got past s1 (not it was bad before but it didnt rly shine as much). and im so glad Sunyool got to stay in the story even when his role as romantic spoiler was long gone. and his friendship with jisuh that forms after? SO PURE SO WHOLESOME. anyway Sun Yool is still my fave character but i def adored Jisuh by the end too.
My Matchmaking Partner Is My Student and a Troublemaker
if you can overlook the part where he's her student and thus not even 20 years old yet....then this is actually a cute little romance with decent sex scenes...but thats a big If isnt it lol. that said i'd rather roll my eyes at the impossibly smooth and devoted and good at giving orgasms literal TEEN BOY male lead in this than i do at having to handwave myself thru a female lead going "NUUU PLS DONT~~" for the 100th time during a sex scene and then going "but how does he FEEL about me?" bitch rly? anyway there's none of that here so its a different kind of problematic. i do love me some variety in my questionable smut mangas. also japan has a rly weird fascination with teacherxstudent that i will just never understand...(also WHAT is with all the public fucking in these TL mangas? yall dont have houses? there's nothing sexy about getting fingered in a smelly broom closet with the ambient sounds of school children in the background)
Wolf In The House
just finshed it and holy shit it is SO SO GOOD. Just such a well written sophisticated story with actually erotic sex scenes? and genuinely moving love story? and its like incredibly funny and full of ADORABLE dogs and SURPRISE LESBIAN MOMS???gaaaaah. i cant wait for this woman's next project. this really just hit every one of its marks. from art, to story, to characters just A+++ (there's really only two other BL stories that rly moved and impressed me as much as this one and its Blood Bank and Man of Virtue, tho imo i think i was most impressed with the artwork from Wolf in the House. like BB is prettier to look at but when it came to conveying things like atmosphere and emotion there was just something so cinematic and evoccative about the way the artist used color and the lack of color and shadow in the comic. whereas BB is more anime style. Wolf almost had this great neo noir vibe half the time. this rly was somehow two genre of romance in ONE story and it actually WORKS. instead of one feeling out of place? like part neo noir, part paranormal romance, part romcom and part dog meme this comic truly does have it All. (also where is my Khalifa spin off? just waaaat a gorgeous lady holy shit!)
Stigma
i have so many mixed feelings on this...like there's a good heartfelt theme to this story and it has alot of good characterizatioin and a very interesting setting. altho this was DEF written by a person who has never spent a notable amount of time in america cause the racial dynamics of the friendships here is...it just wouldnt go down this way irl is all im sayin but i am still glad to see all these black folks in the comic just bein regular people and not stereotypes despite being written by a native korean who prooobably hasnt interacted with a ton of them in her real life. that said i think koreans arent as rare of unicorns as she seems to think they are in this urban large city devlopment these characters seem to live in. but the racism they would go thru is def very true. whether it would go down quite like This tho....and this leads me into what my real issue is with this story. The amount of pure unmitigated torment that Sehyun goes thru in this story is just Too Much. esp when i know he is never gonna get the trauma counseling and sexual assault survivors group meetings that he truly desperately needs. but these stories are always about trauma victims being healed by Love. i do appreciate that the love Sehyun recieves is from a family and community of people and not just one guy who is his White Knight. and in fact his white knight in question is a pretty flawed complicated person himself. which i appreciated. but there's a way to indicate that sehyun went through Alot without...showing us in excruciaating detail every single fucked up thing he went thru? after a while it felt..fetishizing and sadistic in a way it didnt NEED to be. and its esp troublesome cause unlike other BL stories that overuse rape as a form of titilation in their dark smutty stories...this story is taking the abusive actions VERY seriously and grounding them in the real world. but then its also trying to treat them the way alot of darker BL involving rape would. again as a Sex Scene and not as a fuckin nightmare which is what this boy has been enduring. i dont think these scenes are meant to be very sexy but they are clearly showing more than needed to just make their point, which is why i think its being treated in a way that feels inappropriate to the actual subject matter here. like these are rapes in the realest sense that they are meant to dehumanize, to punish, to dominate, to torture etc this poor kid (and from a VERY young age)...like the fact that he is not only assaulted by his father figure...multiple times...and we see it everytime...im like...FFS. it was too much! anyway once he gets out of that environment and these men are dealt with by the police. i was hoping the rest of the story would be consensual sex and healing for sehyun. but nooope, the writer still felt she needed more fucked up rape scenes but this time with the bonus that sehyun Resists! cause he doesnt think he's trash anymore! wow growth! except...thats....so victim blamey??? like it implies that if sehyun had tried harder to resist and hadnt bought into the fucked up gaslighting and mental conditioning he was literally being raised in at one point wrt the worthlessness of his body and person...that he coudla got out sooner or smth and im like...what the fuck? idk if thats what the writer was Trying to say. but it felt HELLA sus. showing that sehyun has broken out of his self loathing mindset could've been done without being assaulted again (and Again. Tho tbf it wasnt shown and the other time he manages to get away but jfc after What??). Idk if that scene where he yells at his abuser is supposed to feel cathartic and inspiring but all i felt was sad that this kid still has to go thru this shit and have to fight this battle Alone. ffs. In conclusion, this is not a bad comic, but it is a very frustrating one. its got its heart in the right place (mostly) but the execution really tried every ounce of my patience. i dont recommend it but i also cant say its worthless trash either. just up to whether the unusual setting and distinctive characters are enough of a draw to make u stick thru this to the (genuinely sweet) ending or not. i mean i did, but i still dont know if i should have~
Like a Tidal Wave - from Pheromone Shower
this is genuinely such a fun and sexy story? and once the romance aspect kicks in its also incredibly sweet. and as always i give extra points when we get some Surprise! Lesbians in the supporting cast. i highly recommend this its one of my fave omegaverse stories and i wish it was longer tbh. but like this is the ONLY omeverse i've seen where the couple switches. like it shouldnt be a big deal but imo it is. the idea that ur secondary sex determines what position u like in bed is a bit...like why does that decide ur Role? or ur personality traits? the omega in this story is macho, cool, charismatic and incredibly rich. he would be an alpha in ANY other story but not in this one! meanwhile the actual Alpha passes as a dopey beta boy who gets roped into the omega's bad boy shenanigans only to turn out to not be so hapless and harmless himself. he's still a sweetheart and a very loving doting partner. cant ask for better tbh. omegaverse done well! its rarer than you think.
If You Hate Me So
i sure have mixed feelings about this one. like the main couple is rly more of a 2 star story to me. rather its the secondary couples and characters that rly make this interesting. and their story is mostly in the sides. and the main couple becomes alot more lovable in the sides as well. to the point that i felt like the story i got in the main series was not only much weaker but practically by a different author when compared to the far better written and complex relationship dynamics present in the Sides. which rly worked more like a spin off series than just addendums to the main story. anyway its weird cause ic ant rly rec this work cause of the extremely problematic main story that also traffics in alot of the usual unfortunate BL tropes (yall know the ones) and none of it is sexy enough to make me handwave or ignore the problematic af parts of it. however it IS kind of necessary to at least skim the main story to have the context and setup to fully appreciate the side stories which i DO highly recommend. tho they arent without flaws ofc. its def worth reading whereas the main story on its own would be completely disposable (and unpleasant). there's so much warmth and sweetness present in the main couple in the side stories that we never rly got in the main storyline and its baffling to me. in conclusion i liked this alot better than Love is an Illusion and this version of the main couple that makes an appearance in the sides of This comic are also alot more interesting to me than their incarnations in LIAI. in conclusion I hate some of the things she made the main couple blonde dude do in the main series but he sure was a sight to behold. which is to say very hot. too bad he was like a volatile scary bully who spent most of the main series terrorizing his love interest cause thats sexy i guess? (i guess comparatively Dojin in LIAI is less problematic...but he kinda sucks too so. at least i cant accuse this story of being boring considering what a time bomb the Top was...)
Even a Mean Girl Can Be Loved
this low rating is bullshit and has nothing to do with the content of the story. the lead just happened to be a woman who got into relationships with shitty men who are married because she was hurt so bad by a past love and her father so she purposely seeks out unavailable and unreliable men so she wont fall in love again and get hurt. this is imo an interesting set up and if u dont like that then...dont read the story? people low rating the story just because they dont like the morals of the female protaganist is SUCH misogynistic short sighted bullshit but whatever. the irony that this has a lower rating than so many rapey TL stories with female leads that have like almost no internal life or personality beyond being pure innocent virigns with no agency or desire for themselves ugh let me stop tho. This story isnt smut, there's sex but tis hardly sown this is just a josei love story. its very adult but only PG-13 so if ur wanting fap material u wont find it in this but its very short and sweet. it was so nice to see such a respectful and sweet male love interest. gosh remember those? i cant remember the last het manga i read that even had such a thing. tho thats partly my fault for mainly reading the smutty ones. i suspect more josei mangas like this are less Problematic and shallow but anyway, i liked this alot! i wish it hadnt ended so soon i would have loved to see their relationship evolve over time but it at least did end on a high note and a very sweet hopeful message. the lead is not unaware taht she's doing fucked up stuff and she rarely hates herself and thinks she's a bad person but she's unable to get over her fear of being abandoned. rather than being the woman whose cheated she chose to be the other woman. which imo makes total sense to me like her pov makes sense and u dont have to agree with it! her making some bad life decisions shouldnt define her entire character for the rest of her life esp when this entire story is about her learning to open her heart again and change her "homewrecker" ways. and like here's the thing, these men would've cheated anyway, they were triflin' ass bastards and she herself thinks men will ALWAYS cheat she's def going with the belief that these men would cheat with whatever lady approached them. and with guys who DO cheat they probably would've cheated with another woman if not her (no ofc not all men cheat but if she beleived that she wouldnt be living like she does). this idea that she's the devil basically implies that these men would've been faithful upstanding husbands if this harlot hadnt come and seduced them with her succubus like aura or smth ridiculous like that. she's esp voluptuous or sensual she's just a regular woman who has relationship baggage and is also really good at her job! she's smart and capable and her love interest falls in love with her because he admires her deeply. i LOVE when love from a man to a woman is based on admiration. well love based on admiration in general is great but its so rare to get it in het couples i find. there's always the need to make the man more amazing and the one out of the woman's league or the guy is a dbag who "loves" her but still insults her constantly or demeans her by being all "well ur dumb n ugly but ur cute i giss!" ugh. anyway this guy is really mature and kind and thoughtful and i was rooting them to be together SO much and i wished we got a few more chpts of them being an official couple and i do like that she hasnt been Cured of her baggage just that she's made the decision to change and allow herself to engage in a healthy relationship with a loving commited partner. anyway if u want some short and sweet and vanilla het love story this is honestly more than worth the very little amount of time it would take to read it. a solid B story, wouldve been rated higher if it wasnt so short and ended right as it was getting rly interesting.
Pheromone Shower - Omegaverse Short Stories
Mockingbird: 2 stars Midnight Job: 3 stars Like a Tidal Wave: 5 stars so on average a 4 star work i'd say. i gave my full thoughts on tidal wave in its own entry. for the other two tho. mockingbird is...not very good tbh, the ending is just bizarre and not rly how omegaverse is supposed to work? its not esp sexy and the art is easily the least appealing of the 3 stories in this anthology. midnight job doesnt have the depth of tidal wave but its still alot more interesting and romantic (and sexy!) than mockingbird. and the art is pretty good too. and more traditional style we see in webtoons than say tidal wave (tho i like tidal wave's distinctive look i think its more of an acquired taste). anyway there isnt anything super deep or memorable about these 2 stories that i can say beyond this but extra points to midnight job for the super hot tanned guy in the bottom role. what a babe. anyway you can pretty much do fine by only reading tidal wave (which has its own entry on mangago so u can skip right to it. its also the longest and most in depth of the 3 stories here). but if u do decide to read the other stories...just skip mockingbird and read midnight job instead. its short and quick and just hot enough to hit the spot.
Masked Woman
this was such a charming surprise of a romance webtoon. i'll give a more detailed review later but i do recommend it. alas its super G rated. not even any hot kiss scenes (unlike the other workplace romance webtoon im enjoying so far A Business Proposal which is able to step into PG-13 territory. we love 2 see it!). anyway this was still pretty nice tho. (i like the comedy in this a bit more too since the antics in Business Proposal are a bit too OTT sometimes esp in comparison to everyone else around the female lead in that). also the kid in this story? adorable!!
