That’s what it looked like the plot might have been at first, but the latest chapter shows he’s just inhabiting Baam’s body. That he was planning to take it over once he was strong enough. Urek is well versed in understanding when someone is taken over by a parasite (yes, I’m calling V a parasite), which we saw during the red thryssa arc, so that’s why he saw right through it. I’m glad that’s the case because it would mean Baam never existed and I didn’t just reads 100s of chapters, rooting for a character that didn’t really exist.
