Nope, the author is someone in the real world who is trying to force the story the way his readers want it to go. But his characters have started waking up one by one primarily because he is bad at writing. So, contradictory things happen and the characters start realizing that something's wrong.

In the draft version, the coffee shop guy was the ML and Heewun was the MC. But, when he published the first season, he changed it to Gunju who is pretty much the perfect, well-balanced character. But he doesn't get rid of the coffee shop guy and uses him over and over - as the shaman, the bartender and the coffee shop guy. He wakes up and realizes he's in a story and he lost out on being the main character. He is bitter and tries to mess with the story so he can get it back.
Seom had read the story in his previous life before he reincarnated inside the manhwa. He tries to go along with the plot so he can get his happy ending unlike in his previous life. But he doesn't really like Gunju and doesn't want to go along with the plot anymore. On top of that, the plot gets messed up once Wuyeol starts liking Heewun coz then Heewun wouldn't die and the story wouldn't end with a happy ending for him.
Heewun reads the story in an app that shows up on his phone. He tries to escape the story by hooking up with Wuyeol but that doesn't work the way he expects.
Gunju realizes that he is in the story coz he realizes that his feelings towards Heewun suddenly changed for some reason and he started liking Seom out of nowhere. Then he realizes that originally he was supposed to be in love with Heewun.
The author keeps trying to change the story based on comments from readers but things start going wrong coz what he writes is out of character and when there are no lines, the characters start behaving differently from what he wants.
