(Warning this is not constructive criticism. I’m venting just because, if you wanna share what you think you’re more the welcome to) (Also SPOLERS) also to whoever is posting it here thank you! Some people do like so they appreciate it
I think we can all agree that this was good until Ría grew up. The story had some charm and some substance all the way until chapter 140 ish. I think we were all expecting the comic to reach some breakthrough when we were introduced to Ría’s adulthood. That didn’t happen. I don’t blame the author genuinely. It’s hard to write a good story but that just how it went.
I feel like more than 60 chapter (might be an exaggeration but you know it sound about right) we’re used to describe Rias childhood as a 5 yrs old. But now all of a sudden she decides “fuck it imma leave this bitch” in like 20 ish chapters. I get that the desire to explore is a good motivator but we’re not shown a Ria that desires to see the world enough to the point where that pushes her and she decides to space. I know she was invited to the north and her dad refuse, and I know she was given the necklace, but her desire to scape seems forced and out of character.
What makes me personally mad or should o say frustrated? It’s what happened with Asisi. Ria was a grown woman in her past life! Asisi was beaten up by his dad pretty badly, his mom was the mistress of the emperor. Ria knows this. And his past is probably even worse. If you truly care about someone you should not have to pressure them to talk about their trauma. Like, that’s just crazy to me. Is not about trust, it’s about how he feel. ( I know it’s just a story so bear with me) if I was in his place, I would feel like I could not trust her because she puts her emotional well being before his. Like Ria, girl, tells him it’s alright. You are there for him. You want to understand him and that you will listen at his pace. It kinda feel like emotional manipulation to fire him as her guard because he won’t share his trauma. This one did it for me.
I read spoiler of the end and I’m quitting it here. If I’m hoping Perle had a good reason to betray the emperor. Crucify me if you want but I think Ria should end with Asisi. I said it! Burn me alive if you will! Asisi is the only character I feel like Ria has an emotional connection with. It’s not happening so I’m not interested anymore. That’s just humble me. Also, like 50% of the other commenters, I don’t like how Rias character is turning out. It just doesn’t cut it for my taste. This is precisely why I stay away from Shoujo because (in my perspective) most female characters I read about are the same. Ria is no different. Some of you may like that, which is cool, but that ain’t me!
I buy a lot of comic on Tappytoon. Imma tell you something, I would be hella mad if I had pay for some of these chapters that are completely irrelevant to the story. Chapter 140 - 145 we’re a very repetive and and weird tradition to adulthood chapters. But who am I to complain I should probably stfu because I read it for free ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Anyhow, that’s my rant. I was bored with quarantine so I read all of these is 3 days. If you have been reading it from when it was first uploaded, your perception of the story might be different. Those of you that wish to continue this journey, good luck! Dear author, I really liked the first 140 chapters.
I completely agree. I really dislike this shallow harem/dense protagonist feeling the author has gone for, after her being a pragmatic and cynical adult-child. I'm not at all interested in any of the characters except for Assissi, Caitel and that magicy sword sprit guy (but his character... what is even the point of him, such a wasted character). Because Ariadna should be an adult twice-over, I don't really understand why her intelligence and awareness is lower than these boys around her (and they all just feel like filler characters anyway). I've always preferred Ariadna x Assissi for the reasons you state. Except, really, that last move of hers...if she had a well-thought-out reason/plan for acting that way, it wasn't shown.
Unpopular opinion Sunako should end with a guy who likes dark stuff and is not that good looking, just someone who she can have a good time, actually likes her and it’s willing to show it, and someone who understands her. I know it’s not going to happen but...
I think the point of this manga is that Sunako and Kyohei didn't care for how they looked and focused on how they felt. Along the story they ended up supporting each other to live their best life and i really love that. As long as they do that then theyre worthy doesn't matter what they like haha... ive been attached to both of them and their different type of relationship and besides they're both similar to me??(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
