Having read the novel, I can say that the Duke is absolutely obsessed with the FL.
He views her as his own possession, bullies her, blackmails her and ruins many opportunities for her, including her engagement, just to satisfy his own desires. He does not let the FL leave him whatsoever.
The webtoon adaption has just started so would let this marinate for a few months before reading.
