Honestly just stating my opinion here but on the part for 'stealing' athy's happiness, her life and etc. I mean I am not sure if it's right to state it that way. Firstly in the novel, her dad didn't even love her in the first place and her life? I mean like I get it athys the one claude 'supposed' to love, but this is not jennettte's fault that the father gave her attention. In a sense like even if Claude did gave jennette attention it doesn't mean he had to treat athy poorly. I feel that people are just pointing finger at her because she supposedly took what 'belong' to athy. However I felt that just because she is loved doesn't necessarily mean that she wrongfully took what's athys. I mean I feel that it's just that we took the position and power and said 'yes', claude's love *only* belongs to athy. When in reality is not, just because she is his daughter doesn't mean he have to love her the most or only her. But I feel that most put our frustration on jennette for the pain athy had to go through just because she is in 'athy's place'.So I won't really she steal athy's life lol. i’m pretty sure they weren’t fighting for her. Claude must have been engaged to her because she’s from an influential house. But idk if you remember but when he found her in bed w his brother he didn’t get mad because it was her, he got mad because it was his brother betraying him. Because you can clearly tell claude was conflicted because he felt love towards athys mom. something he had been keeping inside. He had been a smart person so i’m pretty sure he knew he didn’t love jeanettes mom. She was just an evil woman who wanted too much of what she couldn’t and didn’t have. By this i mean that she prob that she could have claudes love but she never could so she resorted to his brother but his brother was just using her for his black magic.
I thought Jeannette's mom was not satisfied with just being the "2nd Prince's wife" so she wanted to seduce the Crown prince who was next in line to the throne so she could become the Empress
