both the fl and ml are written very well. i love how their insecurities and/or shortcomings effect their dialogue/actions with each other in a natural way. for me, the atmosphere of this story is in a constant state of being underlyingly tense no matter how wholesome the scenes are. this might be how Maxi feels. both the ml and fl have their own unresolved traumas, so arranging two of these people together in a relationship perpetrates issues like self-doubt. Nonetheless, the fl and ml work to improve/build themselves individually, as well as supports/validates each other. This is a story of the process of mental healing over an extended amount of time. i also hope Maxi eats lots of good food to somehow reverse her malnutrition from her growing up in an abusive household.
My fav character is Jack the 2nd-rate himbo. He's the least problematic of the og MLs and most of his mannerisms is just due to werewolf culture. He's consistent and doesn't need any redemption arc bc he's already a pretty decent person, if extreme sometimes. Meanwhile, the redemptions of Ian and Jake surprised me. Now they can have actual conversations with Melissa without them being pricks. I like the change of Ian's hair color because it's subtle enough to alter his presence, while not being distracting. I also freaked out when Jake called his sister Noona. It's an unexpected sweetness.
Nine is cute with Melissa but I'm not a big fan of their master-servant/child power dynamic that's ingrained with their treatment towards one another. Let's see how the story plays out, though, because recently there are some scenes treating each other more equal. I hope there's more development on this. Another ship I like is YurixNine. Two nice people having a rivalry with each other is endearing to me. They're both cute, yet their attitudes toward one another reminds me of a bicker-cuddling and soft-tsundere couple. I think the ship's appeal to me is how fictional couples in media tend to have a 'cool' and 'cute' in a two-people relationship, respectively. YurixNine is a 'cute' and 'cute' combo, so it's a fun dynamic. My third ship that I definitely don't take seriously is *ahem* JackxMelissa. They both have intense personalities, so the way Jack gets flustered with Melissa's 'mixed signals' (she doesn't like him) is hilariously naive and I'm living for this relatable dumbassery. (Melissa, please don't detain his energy with 'noble manners' lessons too much.)
Some side-plots I'm hoping to learn more about are Jake-Ian's post-redemption relationship, redhead maid's restaurant endeavors, Jake's newly acquired gun that he didn't want, Ian's current imperial relations, and when/if my best boi Jack is gonna get his wolf awakening. Also, where did the previous head of the Fortan(?) wolf clan go??
I was rooting for YurixMelissa but alas. I'm glad Yuri has self-love, and she doesn't need a romantic relationship to feel 'whole.' But I wonder who would Yuri's potential partner be, if not Melissa. Nobody else can rival Melissa's values and mental strength. Uwaa! Yuri is my second fav character. I'mma personally scribble myself into this manhua to support Yuri's goals (with her consent, of course.)
Im reading mixed reviews in the comments, especially regarding two or so arcs. Is the story fun and satisfying?
yes, its really good. You should give it a try :))
YES!!! It's extremely good!
I'm always coming back to reread this!
I even went and bookmarked the beginning of each arc, so I can read whatever I'm in the mood for!
Out of curiosity, which arcs are you unsure of?
Just skip the time reset arc and you're golden
