Am I the only one who didn't find this romantic at all? Thought the nurse guy would meet his match and become whipped for someone or meet someone to straighten him out to make him grow up lol. All I see is a possessive stalker who I would call the police on if I met him in real life. I was waiting it out hoping to see character development? There was none.

Ngl I kinda was pissed at the grandpa before but I get his point about marriage and your spouse being beside you (heteronormative viewpoint but still) friendships don't always last forever. However, some friendships do, I have a best friend beside me for 15 years since I was 10 years old, no romantic relationship has lasted that long and built that level of trust (marriage and relationships aren't sunshine and rainbows grandpa). I like how Ji Yuan told grandpa that basically I'm a friend but I'll still be a lasting relationship. Anyways stop torturing us with the pining and can he and Huan Wen get together please thanks I will donate my kidney for this cause.

This manga hits home when dealing with loss so I really felt for Mafuyu not knowing how to deal and just living feeling empty and in denial 'I'm not lonely'. Meeting Uenoyama I think quite literally saved his life it made him passionate about music again vice versa with Uenoyama. He had a renewed passion for wanting to play Yuki's guitar because Uenoyama's guitar playing is captivating. Throughout the manga, I was literally crying because of the 'what could have been' between Yuki and Mafuyu wishing if only Yuki was alive, and they hadn't had their communication issues. On the other hand, I ship Uenoyama and Mafuyu so much because Uenoyama gave Mafuyu a renewed sense of purpose, he motivated him, helped him and encouraged him to sing.
Now seeing the recent arc with Hiiragi, I see people feeling sorry for Uenoyama which I do because I believe it's so hard being compared to someone who was your boyfriend's everything. It's like you're competing where you can't. But I believe Mafuyu does love him imagine being in Mafuyu's shoes losing the love of your life and the last conversation you had with him was a fight. The wound is still fresh and something you can't get over easily like cut Mafuyu some slack. I do believe Shizu is right in what he said to Mafuyu though, I believe Mafuyu though he does love Uenoyama he's not ready to be in a relationship yet...or at least until he realises he needs to tell Uenoyama what's on his mind so he doesn't repeat from his mistakes with Yuki.
Side note: Uenoyama being so musically talented he composed Yuki's song in one night that talent!
I won't talk about Haruki and Kaji because although I really like how Kaji got over himself and confessed to Haruki I did not like the what could've been rape if that scene continued further and what Haruki went through.

I think what will help his relationship with Uenoyama is Mafuyu finding his purpose outside a relationship (i.e. where he wants to go musically/what he wants to do) before committing to one. I love Mafuyu but he was very codependent with Yuki and I'm seeing tiny glimpses with Uenoyama.
No, I agree with you lol their relationship is a bit eh to me I think it needed more build-up tbh.
I loved Sayonara game and read this straight after Change World, tbh I ended up preferring this couple's dynamic?? I think it's because of the whole messy roommate situation but ending up bonding (have experience at this throughout uni lol). Also, I was wondering how on earth I was gonna like Hoizumi, because of how he was like in Sayonara game. Let me tell you I loved his character development in this! His backstory helped me to understand better why he was the way he was.
