They didn't make him soft, they made him empathetic ,safe and empowered. He would have just learnt slower because he's still a kid and was supposed to learn naturally but AFO don't give two shits so he had to master it quicker . So it made him tough in strength I guess but it's going to mentally weaken him in the long run due to isolation ,overwork, trauma and stress. I mean look at the adults.
