i didn't even have to read the title to know this was filthy frank. saw o chin chin and was ilke THATS MY BOy
...but as I'm a literature student, it's my job to read between the lines. I'm pretty sure its about the daughters perspective of her mother; specifically her mother as a prostitute. It's clear that her mum is the only thing that 'Alice' holds dear (despite not really understanding her mothers promiscuity or the publics attitude towards her) and vise versa.
Although it appears that her mother doesn't try to hide Alice from the truth about her occupation, she remains stoic and cool headed, in an attempt to protect her young, influenceable daughter. AS a result of the honesty in the pairs relationship, with help as her daughter appears quite mature and street smart, material things aren't wished to be possessed. The strong bond that the mother and daughter share is an intangible product that many wish to have/purchase. This story shows that a true relationship is forged through genuine compassion, acceptance and love for one another through hardship.
