Basically, when you summon someone from another world, you create a tear in the boundary between your world and the other one. The person who is summoned then has to make a contract with their summoner to stay in the new world or they will be pulled back into their original world and the boundary will reform.
If the summoned person does choose to make a contract to stay in their new world, the old world will automatically try to explain the person’s absence by either making everyone believe the summoned person died years ago, or by causing everyone to forget them entirely. So if he chooses to stay with the Titans, all of his friends, his family, etc, may forget that he existed at all.
