Okay so the deal with the spell is.... it's actually a curse (￣∇￣") once the spell is broken she loses her life so there's no true way to break it. She does take advantage of the situation at first because, honestly, who wouldn't? It's her only way to survive because Rowan's original intention was to kill her. She tries not to bother Rowan too much but dotes on Lex because he does to her. Rowan slowly becomes more conscious during those moment because he realizes what triggers him to "turn" him into Lex and tries his best to prevent it. He actually gets JEALOUS she's so happy to see Lex rather than him even though they're the same person. They do come to love each other very much and it's so sweet to see, it's a plus they look cute together too. He even turns down that crazy blonde bitch real hard and for good. One of the funniest scenes is the ball and Lex makes his appearance and freaks everyone out lmao.
I don't want to spoil the end but the situation does turn for the better and they mesh well despite how things started. You'll become very attached to them, well at least I did lol
