Perhaps the novel is different but the story boarding for tbe manhwa is kinda… ehhhh.

We had Martha who 1% of people feel pity for because she is so awful, that jerk boy (I forgot his name (blue hair)) who also didnt grow on us. Then we have Runan, who we like, but the… depth of writing is not there.

I don’t feel connected to these characters. Her trauma is deep as fuck but Raon’s little battle pep talk was giving Naruto “believe it” speech. I can accept that (I guess…) if there is a further setback for her to overcome. That would be more realistic because you don’t come back from that kind of trauma overnight. There are setbacks.

It’d be a wise choice if the author does that on purpose to show Raon is flawed and overconfident though (due to his true age and past life). That would actually be a pretty good way to show him fuck up for once (as a perfect character can get boring) because if you aren’t trained to deal with someone experiencing abuse, it’s a real consequence of making it WORSE or opening the doors to their abuser retaliating.

That said, I doubt the author was thinking that extensively considering how alabaster and plain characters like Martha are. Sigh.

If the writer knows anything about abuse, her brother will only act worse bc his sense of control will be affected by her starting to think for herself. That could make sense by giving her a greater struggle to climb out of.

Could also be a plot device for something down the road. I’m guessing the brother is the local big bad character right now… and will end up dead.

I wonder how they’ll do it. But I also have low expectations… idk if I’ll continue tbh.

It isnt really "shonen" . But it just got "that feel" you know what i mean?? It's hard to explain. It's different than your typical yaoi. These authors have a really distinctive artstyle. If not very simplistic, its very stylized... Yknow, it's just those kind of BL where you dont mind any plot as long as the delivery, the atmosphere and the vibe is good. well, at least in my opinion.
