Writers like to make a character ask stupid questions (which they should already know the answer to cuz it's just something you'd know if you're a functioning person living in that world) when they want to quickly explain something to readers. It makes the character (usually the MC lol) look like an out of touch idiot who lives in a box & doesn't interact w/ anyone.

The most common one is the MC who doesn't know about the ML even though ML's supposed to be a super popular/well-known guy.
