Basically ml fell for Mc first but it seemed Mc was just too scared to believe or admit it, knowing he was sent to the emperor as a fake wife, I also got upset wondering why he let the maids humiliate him but I feel like he did that Just to satisfy the empress but also make herself look dumb asf, Now saving him finally telling Mc his true feelings, I went back and read From the beginning and it did start off toxic but little I see the emperor show affection without Mc knowing/understanding cuz all he thinks about is if he doesn’t satisfy the emperor he dies, I hope ml shows his emotions a less scary way and more romantic and considerate way and i hope Mc Learns faster about his situation with the emperor but I understand why he so worked up about his life (I would too) Ugh it’s so confusing and it’s hard to even call it romantic buuuut they could be a cute couple if they learn about each other’s feelings more
Yeah i get it. One thing though, if what you said is right, if ml did that just to make the "empress feel dumb af", I have to say that he's definitely doing it the wrong way. If I were the mc, a person who's known abused throughout a huge part of his life and I get treated this way, I'd trust my gut and never fall in love with that kind of man. Too bad the mc has no choice. ML is literally the only hope he has to survive. I also feel like they will never be one of those cute couples lol the ml is just too used to getting his way.
